Delft with teenagers

What to do in Delft with teenagers? Delft is a beautiful city and definitely recommended for families with adolescents. There is enough to do for this target group to keep you entertained for at least a weekend in Delft! We previously wrote a blog about what to do in Delft with kids, but we have chosen from the list of activities a number of activities that are especially suitable for families with teenagers! Below is our list of top activities for a weekend in Delft with teenagers.

Delft with teenagers

#1 Race Planet Delft

A fun place to go in Delft with teenagers is Race Planet Delft. Race Planet Delft is located just outside the center of Delft about ten minutes away from the center by car. You can park the car for free. You book per heat and a heat lasts 10 minutes. If you book 1 heat for your teenagers then of course it is only a short activity.

At Race Planet Delft, a distinction is made between teenagers 14 years and older (minimum height 1.60 meters) are and teenagers smaller than 1.60 meters. The first group can join the adults in karting and the other group can join the children’s karting. Here the kart is adapted a bit and often the speed is limited. For this group there are separate sessions.

At Race Planet Delft, you and teens can also go bowling, laser gaming, karaoke and play an escaperoom. For more information on all these activities, take a look at Race Planet Delft‘s website.

Another go-kart track near Delft is Van der Ende Racing & Fun. Here you can drive to in just over 20 minutes by car from the center of Delft. Here you have the largest indoor kart track in Europe and in addition to karting you can play laser gaming and a game of mini golf.

#2 Sing & Swing

Another fun activity to do with teenagers in Delft is to play a VR game. You can do this at Sing&Swing in Delft. Sing&Swing is located outside the center of Delft about fifteen minutes away by car. What we love about playing a VR game with our daughter is that you can do it with the whole family.

When you play a game with a group in a virtual world you can see each other in a different form in a completely different world. For example, we once played a game with each other in ancient Egypt which is very cool. We had to work together to complete the tasks. Also, it’s quite a physical activity. You move a lot during the game.

It’s certainly not a cheap activity to do with the family, but it’s really something different from what you normally do together. Besides playing a VR game, you can also go karaoke or play a game of 3D mini golf at Sing & Swing.

#3 Gamecity Zoetermeer

Another fun place to visit in the Delft area with teenagers is Gamecity Zoetermeer. Gamecity Zoetermeer is just over a 20-minute drive from Delft and here you can also do all kinds of activities with the family. For example, you can do various activities here that we just mentioned such as go-karting, laser gaming and playing miniature golf.

But you can also play Prison Island here, which is a very cool activity to do with teenagers. You can play this game at several locations throughout the Netherlands and we have now played this game in several cities. You have 24 different cells in Delft, where you play a game in each cell. These games can be either physical or knowledge based.

The goal is to get as high a score as possible in each cell. You may also play each cell as many times as you wish. In the end, you also get an overview of all the scores you achieved per cell. This is another activity you can play with the whole family.

You can play this for 60, 90 or 120 minutes and we must say it is quite intense to play. Each game lasts a few minutes so you can play quite a few games in the time you have chosen. Gamecity Zoetermeer also has several combo deals, where you can combine several activities.

#4 DelftEscape

You can also play an escaperoom in Delft with teenagers. The largest provider of escaperooms in Delft is DelftEscape. DelftEscape’s rooms are suitable for kids as young as 10, making it ideal for teens. We have now played an escaperoom with our daughter during several city trips in the Netherlands and find it a really cool activity.

You have to work together to solve the different tasks and make sure you escape from the room within an hour. If at any point you no longer know how to proceed, you can always ask the game supervisor for help. Look in advance on the DelftEscape website to see which escaperoom most appeals to you and then you can book a specific time that you play the room.

Another provider of an escaperoom is DarkPark in Delft. These are mainly very scary escaperooms and the advisory age here is 16+ or 18+ at all escaperooms. So you can play these rooms mostly with older teens. If you like horror, then these escaperooms are very suitable to play in Delft.

#5 Day trip to The Hague or Rotterdam

Delft is located between the two major cities of The Hague and Rotterdam, and to either city is a quick train ride away. To either city you travel from the center of Delft to the center of both cities in less than 15 minutes. Both The Hague and Rotterdam have plenty to do for teenagers, so it is definitely fun to visit both cities if you have a little more time in Delft with teenagers.

In The Hague, you have several museums you can visit with teenagers. You also have several providers of VR games and escaperooms here. In addition, of course, the government of the Netherlands sits here and you can possibly take a tour of the Lower House.

From The Hague you can also very easily go to the beach in Scheveningen. If you want to visit The Hague, read our blog The Hague with teenagers for more information.

Rotterdam is also a cool city with lots of street art that is definitely worth visiting. You don’t even really need to do teen activities in Rotterdam (despite there being plenty of them) to have a fun day.

Visit the Market Hall in Rotterdam, see a cube house and admire the city’s beautiful skyline from the Euromast. If you want to know what you can do in Rotterdam, read our blog Rotterdam with teens for more information.

The central square in Delft is the Markt, where you can go for a bite to eat and a drink. Climb the tower of the Nieuwe Kerk in Delft for a beautiful view of the city.

In addition, it is fun to take a tour of Delft’s beautiful canals. You can do this with an organized tour or you can rent a boat yourself. We did an organized tour and found it very interesting to get more background on the city.

You can also admire a lot of street art in Delft with teenagers. In Delft you have quite a lot of street art and you even have routes you can walk. We looked up in advance which works of art you can admire in the city and visited some of them with our daughter. We always find this a nice way to explore the city.

Streetart Delft

If your teens love jumping on trampolines, you may want to visit Bounce Valley Delft. This is also a great option if the weather is a little less in Delft and you still want to do something in Delft with teenagers.

Teens aged 10 to 12 can visit the Engineering Studio at the TU Delft Science Centre. Here, kids can discover the world of science and technology. Here you do need to make a reservation in advance if you want to do this.

Of course, Delft is known for its Delft Blue porcelain and you can possibly admire it at Royal Delft, but whether you will do young people a lot of pleasure with this is of course the question.
