Premier Suites Plus Rotterdam: family-friendly apartments right in the center!
Last weekend we once again visited one of our favorite cities Rotterdam! In Rotterdam there is enough to do for kids to have a great time for a whole week and we already wrote the blog Rotterdam with kids, in which we list all the fun activities you can do with the family. Last weekend was the time again and during this city trip to Rotterdam we slept in one of the beautiful apartments of Premier Suites Plus Rotterdam. As a result of this overnight stay, we provide a review of this apartment.
The hotel
We will drive towards Rotterdam center on Friday afternoon and park the car in the (paid) garage Schouwburgplein 2. From this garage it is about a two-minute walk to the hotel reception. There is another parking garage near the hotel and that is the Interparking garage where you can also park your car. Also from this parking lot, it is a one-minute walk to the hotel. The hotel has a deal with both garages, allowing guests of the hotel to park their cars at a reduced rate.
When we get outside the parking garage, we immediately notice that the hotel is practically located at Rotterdam’s central train station, so you can get to the hotel by train as well. When we step into the spacious lobby, it looks modern and sleek, and before we know it, we have been assisted and are in the elevator to the ninth floor of the building where our apartment is.
In addition, the hotel has several facilities for its guests. For example, there is a 24-hour reception and there is also a gym on the first floor, for parents who want to work themselves into a sweat during their stay. In addition, there is complimentary coffee and tea for guests in the lobby and there is also an opportunity at the Grap & Go shop in the lobby to buy some products such as a bag of chips or a noodle soup, for example,
The room
In total, the hotel has 104 service apartments in the building. We booked the Superior One Bedroom Apartment, which is suitable for families of four. In this room, we sleep in a luxurious box-spring bed and Sophie sleeps on a sofa bed folded out in the living room.
What we find very cool about the apartment is that you have a beautiful view of the city of Rotterdam. Very nice to see all those lights of the city even after dark. In addition, the apartment has a small kitchenette (including dishwasher), where you can prepare some things and a spacious dining table, where you can sit with the family to eat something or play a game, for example.
The room looks luxurious and is fully equipped. Thus, there are two flat-screen TVs in the apartment, there is a refrigerator, you have a working WIFI connection and it is possible to make coffee and tea. Also included is a modern bathroom with walk-in shower.
Large playground around the corner
One of the great advantages of the apartments at Premier Suites Plus Rotterdam is its location. Right in the center of the city, making it easy to get everywhere from your apartment. In addition, there is a nice big playground around the corner! Playground Weena is less than a minute’s walk from the apartment and has quite a bit of playground equipment, including a kind of large play castle with climbing equipment and slides.
For families with kids, of course, this is an ideal place to go after spending a whole day in the city. Our daughter played here very nicely in the late afternoon and there are plenty of benches for parents to sit and relax for a while. The playground is run by a foundation, so check their website for opening hours. In fact, there is a large fence around the playground and it closes towards evening.
Food and drink in hotel
As we mentioned earlier in the blog, there is a kitchenette in the apartment, making it possible for parents to cook for themselves in the apartment. Diagonally opposite the apartment complex is an Albert Heyn supermarket a five-minute walk away, where you can buy groceries. We got food here for both dinner and breakfast.
Because of the apartments’ central location, there are obviously quite a few restaurants and cafes in the area to grab a bite to eat. There are also quite a few Asian joints around the apartment complex where you can eat. In that regard, everything is actually within walking distance of the apartment.
Conclusion
We really enjoyed our stay at Premier Suites Plus in Rotterdam. The location is fantastic, so right in the center, and the apartments are luxurious and fully equipped. In addition, we had a beautiful view of the city from the apartment. We could practically park the car in front of the door and our daughter had a great afternoon playing in the large playground near the apartment.
