Hotel Babylon The Hague with kids: a review

The Hague is a super family-friendly city, where there is a huge amount to do for kids. We already wrote the blog The Hague with kids about it, in which we list all the activities for families with kids. Last weekend we visited this fun city again, staying overnight at the Babylon Hotel in The Hague. As a result of this overnight stay, we are writing a comprehensive review of the hotel.

The hotel

On Saturday afternoon, after a day in The Hague, we drive to the hotel and park the car in the Q-Park parking garage New Babylon. From here it is a two-minute walk to the hotel. The hotel has a deal with this parking garage so we pay a reduced rate for 24 hours for the parking garage. This also allows us to leave the car in this parking garage all day the next day. We had reserved a spot in advance, but you can also take advantage of the deal afterwards. Then you can buy a benefit card from the hotel at check-out.

The hotel is located next to The Hague Central Station, making it a perfect location. You can walk straight into the city from the hotel, so it is also very easy to reach the hotel by public transportation. We bought a day pass for the streetcar for Sunday and were able to get on almost in front of the hotel.

The hotel also offers free fitness for sports enthusiasts, so it’s fine to bring your sportswear too. Opposite the hotel is also a large park, where we also saw plenty of people running on Sunday morning. So plenty of opportunities! It is also possible to rent bicycles at the hotel and explore the city this way.

The room

We had booked the Junior Suite family room at this hotel. This room is about 36 m2 in size and had a double bed and a sofa bed in the room. This room is suitable for families of up to four people. The hotel also has family rooms that are even larger and can accommodate families of five.

The room consisted of two sections that connected. This did give you some privacy, and both rooms also had separate flat-screen TVs. Our room also overlooked the park across from the hotel, giving us an excellent view. What is also nice about the room is that there are bathrobes and slippers ready for the parents. Surely that always gives a wonderful relaxed wellness feeling when you are in the room.

Furthermore, the room had a desk and chair, where our daughter spent some time reading and also coloring. What we found a big plus of the room is that the modern bathroom has a bathtub installed. Our daughter loves bathing, so we made frequent use of that during our stay.

Furthermore, the room is fully equipped. Thus, the room has a safe, a refrigerator with contents, a coffee maker, a kettle and a telephone. Furthermore, the room has an excellent WIFI connection throughout the room. All in all, there were no downsides to the room. We spent the whole evening in our room, relaxing after a day full of activities in the city.

Food and drink in hotel

Of course, there are plenty of food and drink options at the hotel. For example, at the hotel there is restaurant & bar The LivingRoom. Here you can go for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and you have a view of the Hague forest while eating. Fresh, local and homemade products are the core themes of the restaurant’s cuisine, and it shows in the food.

In fact, in the morning we took advantage of the hotel’s breakfast. Again, we saw many local products that you could eat. Breakfast was very extensive, with all kinds of freshly prepared products. So the choice was really big and you could choose from many different sandwiches, treats and sandwich fillings.

They could also cook a pancake in the kitchen, had different kinds of eggs and had freshly squeezed gravy. We really enjoyed the sumptuous breakfast and went out again with a well-filled stomach. On that note, we do recommend booking breakfast as it gives you a good start to the day.

What also stood out was the enthusiasm of the staff in the restaurant. All of them came to chat with our daughter and were interested in what we were going to do that day. When we left the breakfast, Sophie was also given a small package of sweets to take with her for the rest of the day! It’s those little things that make you feel very welcome.

Conclusion

We really enjoyed our overnight stay at Hotel Babylon The Hague. The location of the hotel is perfect and we were able to park the car in front at a reduced rate. From the hotel you can easily explore the rest of the city on foot or by public transportation. The room was luxurious and quite spacious, and for us a bathtub in the room is always a huge plus.

We were able to really relax with the family in the evening! Breakfast was also super arranged and very tasty. In that respect, we can really recommend the hotel if you are visiting the city of The Hague with the family for once. Want more information about the hotel, rooms and room rates just here.
