Last weekend, we once again visited the family-friendly city of The Hague. The Hague has enough for families with kids to easily spend an entire weekend enjoying themselves. We already wrote the blog The Hague with kids, in which we listed all the activities for families in the city. Last weekend we once again went on a city trip to The Hague and slept at the Ibis The Hague City Centre hotel. A hotel that is located in the middle of the city and is perfect for families. Following our overnight stay at this hotel, we are writing this comprehensive review!
Table of contents
We drive to the hotel on Saturday afternoon and park the car in the paid Q-Park City Parking parking garage. From this parking lot it is a two-minute walk to the hotel reception. The hotel’s spacious lobby looks modern and cozy. There are benches everywhere and also several beanbags. This gives it a homely atmosphere on the first floor.
The location of this budget hotel is really fantastic. You can walk straight into the center of The Hague from the hotel. As a result, everything is within walking distance and you can easily get to other parts of the city by public transportation as well. Thus, you can be on the beach in just ten minutes by streetcar. The central train station is a 15-minute walk from the hotel, so you can also visit the hotel perfectly well by train. It is also possible to rent bicycles at the hotel.
The Ibis City Centre hotel has several rooms you can book. Thus, they have rooms for three people and also family rooms for four. We booked a family room with the hotel, where you actually book two rooms connected by a connecting door. Sophie absolutely loved this, because now she felt like she had her own room with a bathroom.
This family room is very nice because as parents you still kind of have your own room and therefore privacy. In addition, it is very nice that the room thus has two bathrooms and also two flat-screen TVs. The room is about 46m2 and has two desks, good working WIFI and a safe for your belongings. With that, our room had a double bed and Sophie’s room had two twin beds.
We have slept several times at Ibis establishments and actually this is always good. The hotels have a modern sleek look for a great price and the hotels are often really in central locations in a city. In that respect, it is actually never disappointing so far.
Food and drink in hotel
You also don’t necessarily have to leave the door for food and drink at this Ibis hotel. In the evening, for example, you can eat something in the bistro in the hotel lobby. They have several options here, including a menu for kids. It is also possible to have a drink at the hotel’s Youbar. We ourselves did not eat here in the evening, but on a terrace in the city center. That is the advantage of the hotel’s location, that there are plenty of catering establishments around the hotel, so there is something for everyone.
We did take advantage of breakfast in the morning and we were impressed with the many choices we had here. So there were different kinds of sandwiches, spreads, sweets, juices, cereals, nuts and then we probably forget a lot of different other things. You could get coffee and tea as well as several hot egg dishes. On that note, we had a wonderful breakfast here and left the hotel with a well-filled stomach.
We enjoyed our overnight stay at the Ibis The Hague City Centre hotel. The hotel is right in the center of the city, making everything within walking distance, the room was very spacious with two bathrooms and a sort of separate room for our daughter and the breakfast in the morning was very extensive and delicious. In that respect, we definitely recommend the hotel if you are taking a city trip to The Hague with the family. For more information on the hotel, rooms and room rates, take a look here.
