Last weekend, we once again visited the family-friendly city of Leiden, and we have visited Leiden several times. We already wrote about the city in the blog Leiden with kids, in which we listed all the fun activities for families with kids. Last weekend we slept at the Tulip Inn Leiden Centre and as a result of this overnight stay, we are writing this comprehensive review of this family-friendly hotel in Leiden.
Table of contents
The location of the Tulip Inn Leiden Centre is tremendously good and the hotel is right across from Leiden’s central train station. Because of this, you can also easily visit the city of Leiden by train and sleep in this hotel. We visit the city of Leiden by car and we can park the car in a covered (paid) parking garage that is a minute’s walk from the hotel.
The hotel’s central location also makes it easy to walk into the city center. We always think that is a huge advantage! It is also possible to rent bikes from the hotel to explore the area and they also have bikes with child seats! We always think that is a sign that a hotel is family-friendly, as in the past we frequently wanted to rent a bike at a hotel and couldn’t because there were no child seats available.
Additionally, in the hotel lobby you have an area with various games to play with kids. In short, the hotel has an eye for families with kids.
We had booked a family room in this three-star hotel and this family room is 26m2. This family room has four single beds for the four family members, and there is also a small desk in the room with three chairs. Also included with the family room is a modern bathroom with a bathtub!
We always find that a huge advantage when we book a room. We love bathing and it always makes you feel very relaxed when you have this in your room. In addition, this family room in Leiden has all the facilities you expect from a room such as a flat-screen TV, a free WIFI connection and coffee and tea making facilities.
We found it a very nice room with good beds, so we slept here very well, without hearing any noises from outside. And that despite the hotel being close to the train station and the city center.
Food and drink in hotel
The hotel has both a restaurant and a bar, where you can go for a snack and a drink. We ourselves did not eat at the hotel itself for lunch and dinner, but in the city center. Of course, the hotel’s central location also makes this option very convenient.
Therefore, we can say little about how the food here is. We did take advantage of the hotel’s breakfast in the morning and it was very good. The breakfast buffet is very extensive and has a lot of different choices. So you have a choice of different sandwiches, toppings, fruits, juices, egg dishes, sweets, nuts and then we forget dozens of other things. We really liked the breakfast!
We enjoyed our overnight stay at the Tulip Inn Leiden Centre. The location of the hotel is obviously top notch, and you can see that the hotel also caters to families with kids. They have nice family rooms for families of four and you can also have great food and drinks at the hotel! Breakfast is definitely a must in this regard!
