Room Mate Bruno with kids: boutique hotel Rotterdam!
During one of our most recent city trips to the port city of Rotterdam, we slept at the Boutique Hotel Room Mate Bruno. Rotterdam remains one of our favorite cities in the Netherlands and we still expand our blog Rotterdam with kids every year with fun activities for families with kids. There is so much to do in the city for kids that you can easily spend a week here. We had seen pictures of the colorful hotel Room Mate Bruno in Rotterdam before and when we visited the city again with our daughter, it was high time to stay at this hotel. Following our overnight stay at this hotel, we write this comprehensive review!

So we drive up to the hotel in the late afternoon on a weekday during the summer vacations. The hotel is in the Kop van Zuid area and we park our car in the hotel’s paid parking lot. This way, then, we are in the lobby of the hotel within two minutes.
What strikes us right away in the lobby is how cool everything looks in terms of color and design. The hotel feels special right away and once we checked in, we also walked around the hotel On the floor where the gym and sauna are also located, the rooms are also really beautifully colorful and of a very cool design. You almost imagine yourself in some kind of fairy tale world.
From the hotel you can also walk in two minutes to the metro and streetcar station Wilhelminaplein, from where you can easily explore the city of Rotterdam with the family! Therefore, by public transport you can also be in the city center within ten minutes! In that regard, the location of the hotel is also really top notch!
The hotel has as many as 217 rooms, all of which have their own design. Decorations in the rooms are based on seafaring, such as navigational charts and maps of constellations used by sailors. Because of the bright colors, the different rooms in the hotel look fantastic. The hotel also has plenty of options for families with kids. For example, there are family rooms for four that are 66 m2 in size.
We ourselves are only three people so we booked the executive room with sofa bed. Our room is 42 m2 and has 1 super king size bed and Sophie sleeps on a sofa bed in the same room. What immediately stands out about the room is its height. The room is very high, so it looks very spacious and there is a lot of light coming into the room. By the way, the windows at the top can be shielded in seconds with a few simple buttons, so the room is immediately dark when you want to go to sleep.
We loved the design of the room and the purple table in the room in the shape of a leaf very cool. In addition, the room has a spacious bathroom with both a shower and a bathtub. Our daughter is always the first to look when we enter a room at a hotel to see if there is a bathtub in the bathroom, as she loves to bathe for hours. Of course she did this here too!
In addition, the room also has a lovely roof terrace with beautiful views over the water and the skyline of Rotterdam. When we were there, the weather was lovely and it was very nice to have drinks here both during the day and in the evening. In addition, the room has all the facilities you need in a room such as air conditioning, a refrigerator, a flat-screen TV, a functioning WIFI connection, a safe and options for coffee and tea. There is also an ice machine in the hallway, so you can have a drink with ice!
Food and drink in hotel
The hotel has a lounge bar that looks really cool in color and design where you can have a drink after visiting the city of Rotterdam with your kids. In addition, in the same building as the hotel is Rotterdam’s Foodhallen. We found this a really great place, with many international eateries and a very nice atmosphere. So here we had some delicious Korean food in the evening.
In the morning we took advantage of the hotel’s breakfast. This breakfast is very tasty and very extensive. You have a variety of sandwiches, spreads, fruits, juices and hot dishes such as eggs and pancakes here. In addition, there is yogurt with various cereals, coffee and tea, and then we probably miss a lot of items from breakfast. In that respect, a good start to the day when you have breakfast here!
We thought it was really cool to spend a night at this beautiful boutique hotel by Room Mate Bruno! The colors, the design, the rooms, it’s really very cool combined all together. The hotel’s location is central, the rooms are fantastic with a private balcony with a view as well, and the food and drink options at the hotel are plentiful! In short, the hotel is highly recommended if you are taking a city trip to Rotterdam with the family. For more information on the hotel, rooms and room rates, take a look here.
