During the May vacation we once again visited our beautiful capital city of Amsterdam and we always enjoy looking for a nice hotel then. With the ladies who love shopping, the name of the hotel (Fashion hotel) obviously appealed a lot and when we saw the spacious rooms, we knew which hotel we wanted to stay at in Amsterdam with the family. We have also included this hotel in our extensive travel blog Amsterdam with kids, where we have listed dozens of activities and attractions for families. As a result of our overnight stay at this hotel, we are writing this review!

The hotel can be reached from the highway in a few minutes by car. We put our car in the hotel parking garage (this is paid parking) and in no time we are from the parking garage in the lobby of the hotel. In the lobby, you can see right away that the hotel is all about fashion, and several brands are represented here.
The hotel is next to the Rembrandt Park, where you can be on foot within minutes and where there is plenty to do for kids (playgrounds, petting zoo, construction site for kids). Vondelpark is also a 15-minute walk from the hotel. It is also possible to rent bicycles at the hotel and explore the city this way. We have been to Amsterdam a few times now with our daughter and we actually find this to be the relaxed way to get around the city.
A big plus of the hotel is that right in front of the hotel is another small playground, with a swing, trampoline, a house with a slide and a seesaw. There is also a soccer field here, so if your kids love soccer bring a soccer ball with you during your city break to Amsterdam with the family. Sophie loves to swing and jump on the trampoline, so we had a great time for an hour on a bench at this playground.
At the Westcord Fashion hotel in Amsterdam, we had booked the Junior Suite for three people. What we loved about this room was the space. The room is huge and we always like that very much. As you can see from the pictures, there is enough space in the room for the beds, a dining table with chairs and two nice recliners.
In addition, what we always find a very big plus in a room is if there is a bathtub in the room. In fact, both ladies in our family can spend hours in the bath. For them, that really provides a bit of relaxation after walking around a city all day. In addition, the room has all the facilities you need in a room such as a good WIFI connection, a safe, air conditioning, flat-screen TV, a coffee maker and a kettle.
Wellness of the hotel
The hotel also has a Wellness inside, called Wellcome Wellness. In this Wellness you have two saunas, a Turkish steam bath (you can get in here for a fee), an indoor pool and a gym. The pool is not super large, but it is great for a quick swim with your kids after a day of walking around the city. The hotel has lots of different magazines at the reception, which you can read on a bed by the pool.
This is a big plus of the hotel as far as we are concerned, as we find this a great activity at the end of the day to end the day with, before dining and finally going to sleep.
Food and drink in hotel
In terms of food and drink, you don’t have to leave the hotel either. In fact, there is a stylish Grand Café, Brasserie (Mme Coco) and a Skybar (SKYY Bar) in the hotel. In the Grand Café you can order sandwiches, burgers, as well as bitterballen for lunch or dinner. In brasserie Mme Coco it is possible to order a sandwich, a salad, a soup a pasta or a pizza, as well as some more luxurious dishes such as a tournedos or a sole.
On the tenth floor you will also find Skybar SKYY Bar, where you can sip cocktails or order a culinary snack. Unfortunately, when we were there, all these catering establishments were closed due to (corona) measures. We did have access to the hotel’s breakfast and it was wonderfully extensive!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Fashion Hotel in Amsterdam. We did not have to take the car all the way across town, could easily park the car at the hotel, had a spacious deluxe room with bath and had a delicious breakfast at our disposal the next day. In that respect, we really found the hotel highly recommended when taking a city break in Amsterdam with kids.
In addition, the hotel has a Wellness, several catering establishments and you can be in several of the city’s parks in a few minutes walk. For more information on the hotel, its rooms and room rates, take a look here.
