The city of Amsterdam is never boring with kids! That is why we were once again in our beautiful capital city for two days last weekend. And to avoid having to drive up and down home, we booked an overnight stay with it right away! Cozy! After some searching on the Internet, we booked an overnight stay at the Banks Mansion Boutique hotel, right in the center of Amsterdam. And what a wonderful night we had here with the family. We also included this hotel in our blog about Amsterdam with kids. In this travel blog, we describe our findings of the Banks Mansion Boutique Hotel in Amsterdam!

The hotel is located on Herengracht and it is a few minutes’ walk from Rembrandtplein to the hotel. We opted to park our car at the P&R Rai for 1 euro and were at Rembrandtplein in just over 15 minutes by streetcar number 4 (return 6.70 euros for three people). The hotel does not have its own parking, but does have Valet Parking which is provided by an outside party. So if you want to get out by car right in front of the door, this is possible.
Upon entering the hotel, you immediately enter the cozy lobby. It made us feel right at home. What is extra nice for families with children is that there are several games lying around that you can play with kids at the large table while enjoying a snack and a drink. We played a game of Rummikub in the afternoon before heading out. And in the afternoon sat playing cards.
It’s that we already had tickets to Artis, otherwise it would not have been a punishment to spend the whole afternoon here cozy around the table playing games with our daughter.
We had booked the Mackinlay Junior Suite and it was very luxurious and spacious for our family. An extra bed was added in the room for our daughter. You can request this when you make your reservation. The room was 35m2 in size.
The room was really very cozy and nicely decorated. Special things like a working record player and an old-fashioned telephone were in the room. There were several records with it, allowing you to play a music in the room.
The ladies of the family loved that there was a spacious bathtub in the room. Our daughter, after seeing the bath in the morning, actually wanted to go back to the hotel as soon as possible to take a bath ;). Nice details include bath ducks for bathing. In addition, it is very nice that there is a shelf in the bath where you can put a book and a glass of drink. We really loved the separate shower! We have never had such a nice hot and hard rain shower. All this kind of stuff in the room gives a wonderful feeling of luxury and this allows you to really relax with the family after a day of exploring Amsterdam.
Another thing we noticed about the room was that we did not experience any noise pollution from the city. In addition, the minibar is included in the room rate and there are even bottles of spirits for those who love them! Not that we drank from it, but it’s definitely pluses of the room! There is also a Nespresso machine in the room for a cup of coffee.
There are several other types of rooms to book at this hotel. Look here for a list of all rooms.
All inclusive concept
Perhaps the most special thing about this hotel is its All Inclusive concept. We have never had a hotel in the Netherlands that used this principle. This allowed you to pour your own drinks in the lobby, which allowed you to have great drinks together.
In the afternoon, there were all kinds of appetizers, including various cheeses, sausages, grapes, toasts, cheese sticks and different kinds of chips. As a result, by early evening, the hotel’s lobby became a lively place. Really a very nice principle! As you can see from the pictures below, they had lots of different (strong) drinks and even have the hotel’s own beer called Banks Mansion.
It’s a very nice homey feeling that you can grab everything yourself in the lobby, so you don’t actually depend on anyone! In this regard, we find that there is really a lot in the price, making an overnight stay with the family not even that expensive.
Food and drink in hotel
In addition to having great afternoon drinks, we also had a delicious breakfast in the morning. The breakfast buffet was ample and nothing was really missing at all. Someone is also in the kitchen, baking pancakes and eggs. On that note, we left the hotel door with a well-filled belly.
The hotel does not really have a restaurant for evening meals, but you can order anything. The hotel’s central location means you have dozens of restaurants and eateries in the immediate vicinity. In addition, we were so full after our afternoon drinks that we actually needed to eat very little.
We really enjoyed the overnight stay at the Banks Mansion hotel. The room was really very luxurious and cozy and the lobby and the all inclusive principle we also thought was absolutely top notch. We can also well imagine going here even without kids, because we would have liked to continue having drinks for a while longer (unfortunately, our daughter has to go to bed on time ;)),
If you want to stay in the middle of downtown in a homely atmosphere, where all drinks and snacks are included in the price, then this hotel is highly recommended! We would definitely book here again next time! For more information on the hotel, rooms and room rates, take a look here.
