Vintage car rental for a day: the blossom tour!
Last weekend we rented a vintage car for a day and drove the blossom tour in the province of South Holland. We always thought it would be cool to take an old beetle out for a day and when we saw that we could very easily rent a car for a day online, the decision was quickly made. We drove a beautiful route this day with this old beetle and as a result of this day we are writing this comprehensive review about this day.

Rent a car
We rented this vintage car through the company We Love Oldtimers located in Hoogblokland. Hoogblokland is half an hour’s drive from Dordrecht and Utrecht and about forty minutes’ drive from the cities of Breda and Rotterdam. We were on a weekend trip to Breda and drove to the company from Breda on Sunday morning.
We Love Oldtimer has lots of different vintage cars to choose from. For example, they have several Volkswagen vans, Volkswagen beetles, as well as Porches and Mini Coopers. In this regard, the company’s product range is very extensive. We love the old beetles and also rented an old beetle when we got married.
Now with our daughter, we also thought it would be fun to rent a Beetle again and it became a mint green Beetle with an open roof! We really enjoyed spending a day on the road with this car and even though the weather was not super good, we obviously drove several sections of the route with the roof open!
The Blossom Walk
The Bloesemtocht is a trip toward the Betuwe where you can make 19 stops, but you will be short of time. Those who put together the itinerary recommend scheduling a maximum of 7 stops. For example, you’ll pass a Geofort, an animal park and a petting zoo, where it’s obviously fun to stop with kids.
All stops include the area where you can find blossoms. The Blossom Ride is the most fun to ride from mid-March through the end of May. That’s when the trees are most in bloom. After getting instructions of exactly how the car works we went out and it took some getting used to. For example, the vintage car does not have power steering which is almost standard in modern cars today. This definitely takes some getting used to, for example, steering.
During the route, you will drive only on shortcuts and will not get on the highway. The car is also only capable of 90 kilometers per hour, making that not really a good plan either. We kept driving from point to point, and every now and then we stopped, for example, at a pancake restaurant for lunch or at a beautiful orchard, where some of the trees were already in bloom.
We spent a whole day on the road with this mint green beetle and found it to be a lot of fun! The scenery of the route in which you ride is beautiful! If you would also like to take a trip in a vintage car, check out We Love Oldtimers’ website for all the different cars the company rents out.
