The Unbound Amsterdam with kids: cottage with hot tub!
Last week we once again visited one of our favorite cities: Amsterdam. We have been to Amsterdam countless times and each time we manage to expand our blog Amsterdam with kids with new activities. By now we have done so many activities in the city with our daughter that you need more than a week to do everything. During our city break to the capital, we slept in one of the cottages at the Boutique Hotel The Unbound Amsterdam. As a result of this overnight stay, we are writing this comprehensive review of this hotel.

We wanted to visit this hotel for a long time, because the pictures of the cottages and, of course, the hot tub really appealed to us. During the vacations, we finally made it and booked an overnight stay here. So after a day in Amsterdam, we drive in the afternoon toward the hotel which is located in the northeast of the city a little more than a fifteen-minute drive from the center of Amsterdam.
We park the car for free in front and immediately notice that it is a decent area with lots of greenery. It exudes tremendous tranquility and seems like some kind of spa complex. After checking in, we quickly walk to our cottage with hot tub and our expectations are completely met. Lovely cottage with a lovely hot tub. We could spend an evening here!
The hotel has several cottages and rooms and some of them have hot tubs. Check out The Unbound Amsterdam website for a list of the different cottages. On the complex of the hotel you experience space and greenery, and in the middle of the complex you also have a beach with deck chairs and a pedal boat in the shape of a swan.
There is also a sauna in the middle of the complex that you can rent. We did this in the morning and it was a wonderful start to the day!
We had booked The Wikkel with wood fired hot tub. This is a cottage for families of four. This cottage has a separate room for the kids with bunk beds, which you can completely close off. This is especially nice for when the kids need to go to sleep. It also has a separate area with a bedroom for the parents, which is connected to the outside right away with French doors.
In addition, the cottage has a living room with a kitchenette. So it is possible to cook your own food if you like. In addition, that kitchen has a large refrigerator, so you can bring drinks from home just fine. In addition, there is a functioning WIFI connection in the cottage.
The cottage is completely free and you have an unobstructed view of the green surroundings. On the side of the cottage was the hot tub. The staff at the hotel had already been kind enough to fill it completely with new water, and as we sat in the cottage, an employee came by with two bags of wood, needed to light the stove. These bags of wood are included with the cottage.
You can choose to have the staff fire up the hot tub, but we found that far too much fun to do ourselves. Especially our daughter enjoyed throwing a new log on it and stirring in the hot tub all the time, making the water warmer and warmer. After an hour and a half, the water was warm enough to enjoy it! We sat in it all evening and to our surprise it was also quite warm in the morning, so we sat in it again.
In addition, the cottage has a fire pit, in which you can make a nice fire. We loved sitting with a drink behind our cottage with a crackling fire in the foreground. In that respect, the big city of Amsterdam is very far away when you are in the cottage itself.
Food and drink in hotel
At the hotel there is also a good restaurant where you can eat. Here you can have a great meal with the family three times a day. It is also possible to order a breakfast box in the morning and have it delivered to your cottage. It is also possible to buy bread in the hotel store. Just keep in mind that this won’t be there until about 8:30. We ourselves were up early and took a quick drive to the Albert Heyn which is just over a five-minute drive from the complex. It is open as early as seven in the morning. So in that regard, there are plenty of choices in terms of food and drink at the hotel!
We really enjoyed our overnight stay at hotel The Unbound in Amsterdam! We had a fantastic cottage in the middle of nature yet close to town! We found the hot tub and the fire pit really added to a very nice and relaxing evening. It was also very nice in the morning that we were able to get in the hot tub and use the sauna. In that respect, it is a bit like a large spa complex, where you can relax with your kids. For more information on the hotel, rooms and room rates, take a look here.
