Kings Inn Alkmaar with kids: a review!
During the Christmas vacations we spent a weekend in the city of Alkmaar. A very nice city, where we will definitely return in the summer. We stayed here at hotel Kings Inn and wrote the below review about it.
Table of contents
The hotel is right in the center. Within a 2-minute walk you are on Alkmaar’s most famous square, the Waagplein. This boutique hotel is located on the canal and housed in a seventeenth-century cheese warehouse.
We parked the car in the Karperton garage near the hotel. This parking garage is a 2-minute walk away from the hotel. For not too much money we could park the car here for 24 hours.
What is a nice plus about the hotel is that it rents out pedal boats that are on the water in the moat near the hotel (see photo below). In the summer, with kids, this is obviously a fun activity to do in the center of Alkmaar. Unfortunately, this Christmas vacation was not the right weather for us to do this with our daughter.
The hotel has sixteen rooms. We slept in the cozy deluxe room. We really loved our room just for the decorated Christmas tree that was in the room by the bath. In addition, our daughter loves to bathe and the fact that this bathtub was in the middle of the room, we found very attractive. The room also had a separate shower.
The hotel has several rooms where families can stay. Some rooms have a double bed and a separate bed, and a baby crib can be added in these rooms if necessary. In other rooms, a bed can be added if a family of three or four wants to stay overnight.
Food and drink in hotel
The hotel has a brasserie where you can go for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can order an extensive three-course meal here with your family, as well as a daily snack for not too much money. We had already eaten extensively in the center of Alkmaar in the afternoon, so in the evening we ordered some fries, a steak, salad and a little too many herb butter baguettes ;).
The Brasserie is also a great place to play a game with your kids and have a drink with the family. The decor of the brasserie mostly gives you a living room feel, and with our five-year-old daughter, we always find that a pleasant environment. Cozy and not too stiff.
We enjoyed our overnight stay at the Kings Inn in the center of Alkmaar. The weather was not great, but we had a great time in the room. Playing games, having drinks and an extended bath. When you step out the door of the room we were right in the center of Alkmaar. We definitely want to come back to Alkmaar in the summer and for a weekend trip to this nice city, this hotel really does come highly recommended.
