Best travel time Costa Blanca with kids

The best travel time to visit the Costa Blanca with kids is from May through October. Most families with kids come to the Costa Blanca because of its nice climate and beaches, and then of course you want sunny weather during the day and that it is warm enough to go to the beach, for example.

You have the greatest chance of sunny weather and high temperatures in the months of July and August, and of course it is not surprising that these are also the busiest months in terms of tourism. If you do not like these crowds, the months of May and September are great months to explore this Costa Blanca.

Just keep in mind that many activities and attractions are mainly open during the summer months, so if you’re going to this coast far out of season, do check in advance to see if it’s actually open.

Transport Costa Blanca

Most families with kids visit the Costa Blanca by car. This is the ideal mode of transportation to get around in this region. Many of the families flying to the Costa Blanca then land at Alicante airport. For most beach resorts, you can be in the center of the respective resort within an hour by car from the Alicante airport.

#1 Calpe

A fun resort to visit on the Costa Blanca with kids is the resort of Calpe. This resort is known for the huge rock (Peñón de Ifach) in the water near this resort. You have some beautiful beaches that you can visit here with kids, with several also having beautiful views of this rock.

In addition, you can also hike in Calpe to Peñón de Ifach and from the viewpoint you will have a beautiful view of the surroundings of Calpe. By the way, you have several places around Calpe that are great for hiking with kids, such as the Serra d’Oltà natural park that is a 15-minute drive from Calpe. It is also possible to visit a large salt lake here in the region.

#2 Benidorm

Benidorm is perhaps the most famous resort you can visit on the Costa Blanca with kids. To explore the center of Benidorm, you can take a fun guided bike tour here. Besides a cozy center with many restaurants and beautiful beaches, you can do more activities here with kids.

In Benidorm, for example, you have a fun water park that you can book with kids, with several cool slides and pools. In addition, you also have a park in Benidorm that is a combination of an animal park and a water park that you can visit with kids. Finally, you can also go to an amusement park in Benidorm, where they have more than 20 different types of attractions for families with kids.

#3 Denia

Denia is a seaside resort where it is great to spend a few days at the beach on the Costa Blanca with kids. You can also go hiking in the Denia area with kids. Parque Natural del Montgó is a few minutes’ drive from the center of Denia and this is a great place to go hiking with kids.

If you are with older kids, it is fun to walk to the Cova de l’Aigüa cave. This is a tough mountain hike, but you will be rewarded at the summit with stunning views of the surrounding area. By the way, from Denia it is also possible to take the boat to Ibiza. From the port of Denia you sail to Ibiza in about 2.5 hours. Ibiza is a great destination to go to with kids for a few days.

You can also visit a castle in Denia with kids for a few euros and it’s fun to check out the port of Denia and have a drink here with the family. Denia is also a great place to go cycling with kids along the Via Verde de Denia. If you ride the entire route, you can cycle as much as 36 kilometers here.

#4 Altea

Also in the resort of Altea, you can go to several beautiful beaches on the Costa Blanca with kids, the most famous of which is Playa de la Roda. Altea is on a hill and therefore the streets in Altea are hilly. This can make it exhausting, especially in the summer months, to walk through the center with kids.

You can rent a kayak or a boat in Altea and explore the area near Altea with kids that way. There are also a number of waterfalls near Altea that you can visit with the family. To visit the falls you do pay a small entrance fee and especially in the summer months, it can get very crowded here. It’s best to go out early with the kids then.

#5 Alicante

Alicante is the largest city to visit on the Costa Blanca with kids. Playa del Postiguet is the most famous beach in Alicante and if you are looking for a quieter beach then you should visit Playa de San Juan and Playa La Almadraba. These beaches are a lot quieter and you also have several playgrounds on the beaches for kids.

In the center of the city you can visit a castle for free with kids and in the center of the city there is also some kind of fairground/amusement park that you can visit with kids. You pay per attraction here and admission is free. If you are with kids, be sure to also visit Calle San Francisco in Alicante. This street has all kinds of giant mushrooms lining the street.

Like many of the seaside resorts on the Costa Blanca, Alicante also has a pleasant promenade with many catering establishments where you can go for a bite to eat and a drink. The advantage of a vacation to Alicante with kids is that the airport is located in this city, making it easy to travel there with the family.

#6 Javea

Javea is a seaside resort on the Costa Blanca located between the major cities of Alicante and Valencia. Therefore, from Javea you can also make a great city trip to these two cities. Certainly Valencia is really worth visiting. We visited Valencia for 8 days with our daughter and had a great time.

#7 Torrevieja

The seventh family-friendly resort to visit on the Costa Blanca with kids is Torrevieja. This resort is located between two large salt lakes and these salt lakes have special pink and green colors. From Torrevieja, you can easily visit these salt lakes with a little train from the center.

Besides the beautiful beaches and the cozy center of Torrevieja, you can also spend a day at a water park in this resort. In Torrevieja you have no less than 2 different water parks you can visit. Aquopolis Torrevieja is the largest water park and this water park has many different spectacular slides. The second water park is Aquapark Flamingo and this water park is a bit smaller and a bit more focused on young kids.

You can also visit a fun city park, museum and fair in the city center with kids. As a result, you have enough fun children’s activities to have a great time with the family for an entire week in Torrevieja. #8 Moraira

The last three resorts in our list of family-friendly resorts on the Costa Blanca are resorts that are a little less known to the general public and therefore less massively visited. If you do not like mass tourism then Moraira is a nice resort to go to with the family.

The center of Moraira is car-free and therefore very family-friendly. You can have a great stroll here and have a drink at one of the many terraces you have in Moraira. Platja del Portet is the most beautiful beach to go to in Moraira with kids. The sea generally slopes slowly at the beaches around Moraira, making the beaches here very family-friendly.

Like so many seaside resorts on the Costa Blanca, you can take a tourist train in Moraira. The ride takes half an hour and costs a few euros per person. Especially with young kids a fun way to explore Moraira.

#9 Villajoyosa

Villajoyosa lies just south of the popular resort of Benidorm (15 minutes away by car) and has grown tremendously in recent years. It is considered one of the most beautiful villages to visit on the Costa Blanca with kids.

This seaside resort is visited by more and more families with kids and that is partly due to the historic center of Villajoyosa. You also have in the historic center of the city several towers standing from the past, which you can climb and from which you can get a nice view of the city and its surroundings.

In addition, Villajoyosa has more than 3 kilometers of sandy beaches that are also enormously wide in many places. Villajoyosa is not yet well known to the general public, so the beaches are not super crowded even in high season. In addition, you can visit the chocolate museum in Villajoyosa with kids and, of course, taste chocolate.

#10 Albir

Albir is the last family-friendly resort on the Costa Blanca to be named in our list here. Albir is also not yet as well known to the general public and therefore a lot quieter than many of the other resorts in this list. Despite being quiet, you can go and do several things with kids in the resort itself.

For example, it is possible to explore the area in a baby carriage or a jeep with kids. In the city itself, you have quite a lot of street art that you can go see with kids. In addition, the area is great for hiking with kids. A popular hike in Albir is the walk to this resort’s lighthouse. You also have natural park Serra Gelada near Albir where you can go hiking with kids.

Albir’s most famous beaches are Playa del Albir or Playa del Racó Albir, which are great to go to with kids. Albir also has a promenade where you can go for snacks and drinks with the family.
