The hotel

What was one of the biggest reasons for our choice of The Bank hotel in Amsterdam is that it is right in the middle of the Jordaan in the city center. The hotel is located on Haarlemmerstraat, where there is plenty to do and great places to grab a bite to eat and a drink. The great thing is that in the room you don’t notice anything at all about the hustle and bustle of the street, even though you are within minutes of the hustle and bustle.

From the hotel, most of the city’s attractions can be reached within ten minutes by public transportation or on foot. The Haarlemmerbuurt in which the hotel is located has also been voted Amsterdam’s nicest shopping street among readers of the newspaper Het Parool.

We park our car in the Parc and Ride parking garage Noord, where we pay 1 euro per 24 hours, and within a few minutes we are from the Noord subway station by subway at the central station of Amsterdam. From the city’s central train station, it is less than a ten-minute walk to the hotel. Because you walk through a lively neighborhood, you won’t get bored in those ten minutes. It is also possible to park the car closer in a parking lot and the hotel has several deals for this which you can find here.

The hotel is located as the name suggests in an old bank building. Elements of this can be seen downstairs in the hotel where the large vault is still visible and where today a wine cellar of a restaurant is made.

The room

The hotel has 20 rooms and we had booked a family room. These beautiful rooms are about 35m2 in size and can accommodate a family of four. The two double beds are in the same room, but there is some kind of separation between them. The view from our room was also fine and we looked out on a church building which now serves as an escaperoom.

The room has a large modern bathroom with both a bathtub and a shower. Especially a bathtub in the bathroom our daughter can always really appreciate and the bathtub is always heavily used! Furthermore, the room has a refrigerator, functioning WIFI, a safe, air conditioning and coffee and tea making facilities. In that respect, the room has everything you need to relax. The room also has a flat-screen TV on the wall, where the three of us enjoyed watching TV in the evening.

Food and drink in hotel

We used the hotel’s breakfast in the morning and it was very tasty and well arranged. Actually everything you need in the morning for a good breakfast was there. So we left the hotel with a well-filled stomach.

Due to the central location of the hotel, there are of course dozens of eateries within a few minutes’ walk from the hotel, where you can have some food and drinks with the family.

In the same building as the hotel, there is also Mr. Meat Amsterdam Steakhouse. The hotel also has a partnership with the Argentine restaurant ST. George, where, as a customer of the hotel, you can eat at a discount in Amsterdam.

Conclusion

We enjoyed our overnight stay at The Bank Hotel in Amsterdam. If you and your family are looking for a hotel that is right in the center in a cozy neighborhood, this hotel is definitely recommended. The location is perfect, the rooms are spacious and modern, and in terms of food and drink, you are in good shape at this hotel. In this regard, we really have nothing negative to say about this hotel. For more information on the hotel, its rooms and room rates, take a look here.
