Last weekend we once again visited the seaside resort of Noordwijk with our daughter. This time we visited Noordwijk not during the warm summer, but during the autumn period. As a result, we undertook completely different activities in Noordwijk than usual, and we have added all these activities to our blog Noordwijk with kids. During this weekend we stayed 2 nights at the van der Valk Palace Hotel in Noordwijk. In this blog, we review the hotel and list all the information about it.
General information hotel
On Friday afternoon we drive from Brabant to Noordwijk and park the car in the (paid) covered garage of the hotel. From this parking garage we are in the lobby of the reception in 2 minutes. The hotel really has a fantastic location because it is practically on the beach. From the hotel you can walk to the beach in a few minutes.
That the hotel is family-friendly is evident in the fantastic playroom it has. This playroom is very spacious and there are all kinds of things for kids to do. For example, several times we played a game of table tennis and table soccer with our daughter. You also have a playground equipment here, a lot of building blocks and many more toys! Really nice place to go with kids in the hotel.
It is also possible to rent an e-chopper, fatbike, or electric bike from the hotel. We ourselves rented an e-chopper at the van der Valk hotel in Harderwijk and we really enjoyed exploring the area with our daughter that way. We can imagine that this way you can also make a nice route along the beaches of Noordwijk with kids.
The pool and wellness
After checking in that Friday afternoon, the first thing we do is explore the hotel’s pool and spa. This is a very nice space, where you have a nice pool with double jet stream where you can swim against the current. In the ceiling by the pool are all lights that make it seem like you are swimming under a starry sky.
By the pool are sunbeds where you can read a book, and for parents it is also possible to use the Turkish steam bath and sauna of this spa. These are by the pool, so we parents took turns using these. We found this really relaxing and we used this pool and wellness both on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. A very nice addition to the hotel.
By the way, on the same floor is also the YUMI Spa & Wellness, where you can get a massage or a magnesium treatment for a fee. You can book these treatments in advance through the van der Valk Palace hotel’s website. We ourselves did not take advantage of this.
The room
We had booked a family room with the hotel. This family room is spacious and is 36m2 in size. You have a sleeping area and living area in this room, where it is possible for kids to sleep in the living area on the sofa bed. We ourselves had a King-size bed and both sections had a large flat screen hanging on the wall.
The bathroom had both a tub and a shower, which we ourselves always love. We always love it when a room has a bathtub and this is always an extra moment of relaxation for our family in the room itself. So we used this bath every day. In addition, the room has all kinds of facilities such as a well-functioning WIFI, air conditioning, a refrigerator and enough closet space, making it a very nice room to stay with kids.
In addition, the room has a balcony with two chairs, where parents can have a drink at the end of the day (when the kids are asleep). We had wonderful views of Noordwijk and the Ferris wheel that stood by the sea.
Food and drink
For food and drink you do not have to leave the hotel, as this is also well taken care of at the hotel. Thus, the hotel has a lounge bar and a restaurant where you can go for a snack and a drink. Certainly the restaurant is a popular spot, so if you want to be sure of a table, advance reservations are recommended. We wanted a bite to eat at the hotel the first night, but by then the restaurant was completely full.
Fortunately, there are lots of restaurants and cafes around the hotel and we ended up eating delicious pancakes at Hans and Gretel, which is a 5-minute walk from the hotel.
In the morning we did take advantage of the hotel’s breakfast buffet twice and it was very good and extensive. Actually, we did not expect anything else from a van der Valk Hotel. In fact, that’s what the hotels are really known for. You had lots of choices of sandwiches, sweets, toppings, nuts, juices and more here.
You could have the cooks make you a delicious omelet with all kinds of ingredients and you also had a machine where you could get freshly squeezed gravy. We ate so much here two mornings that we really weren’t hungry again until the end of the day. Even our daughter who is not the easiest eater ate excellently here. Highly recommended!
Conclusion
We really enjoyed our stay at the van der Valk Palace hotel in Noordwijk. You can park your car at the hotel and from the hotel you can walk right onto the beach. In addition, you have a fantastic pool and spa, where you can relax.
They have several rooms you can book, including a family room for families with kids. You also basically don’t have to leave the hotel for food and drink.
