Best travel time Torremolinos with kids
The best time to go to Torremolinos with kids is between April and October. During this period the weather is warm and sunny. Especially in spring and autumn (April, May, June, September and October) it is ideal to visit Torremolinos with the family, with temperatures around 25 degrees. The summer months (July and August) can be a bit busier and then temperatures can reach above 30 degrees.
In principle, this need not be a problem, as most of the activities you can do in Torremolinos with kids are by the water anyway. If you really want to visit something of a city, then it is best to do this in July and August in the early morning or late afternoon.
Just keep in mind that some attractions or water parks may be closed outside the summer months, so always check before visiting anything!
Transportation to and in Torremolinos
You can visit Torremolinos with kids by car. A car is nice, as some activities require you to drive quite a bit, and public transport will take you a lot longer. Torremolinos is easily accessible via Málaga airport, which is just a 15-minute drive away.
You can take a cab or a rental car from the airport to Torremolinos. At Malaga airport you can very easily rent a car through Sunny Cars. In the town of Torremolinos itself you can do some great walking. Many attractions and beaches are close by. There are also buses and a train station, making it easy to travel to Málaga or other nearby cities.
Children’s activities Torremolinos
#1 Aqualand Torremolinos
If you visit Torremolinos with kids in the warm summer vacations then it is also highly recommended to spend a day at a water park. In Torremolinos you have an Aqualand water park that you can visit. This water park looks beautiful and has several spectacular slides for kids.
You have just over 10 fast slides and most of them require kids to be a minimum height (often 1.20 meters). Be sure to check in advance which slides your kids are all allowed down so you avoid disappointment. In addition, there are really sections for the youngest kids. For example, you have Aquatic Mushroom and Children’s Paradise where the youngest kids can play with all kinds of play equipment in the water.
In addition, you have a pool with artificial waves and you can relax in the jacuzzi of the water park. You also have several dining options here, making it easy to enjoy a whole day here in Torremolinos with the family. #2 Beaches
Most families visit Torremolinos because of the beaches you can visit here. In Torremolinos you have 4 different beaches you can visit with the family. The most famous beach you can visit in Torremolinos is Carihuela Beach, which you can walk right to from the center of Torremolinos.
You also have a promenade here with lots of eateries (including many Dutch eateries). This beach has enough facilities for families with kids. For example, you can rent beds with umbrellas here, there is a lifeguard on the beach and there are plenty of clean toilets and showers nearby. The beach here consists of fine sand.
If you like to get away from the crowds, a visit to Playamar beach is a good option. This beach is a lot quieter, but there are still plenty of facilities for families with kids. Other beaches you can visit in Torremolinos with the family are Playa Los Alamos (most beautiful beach clubs in Torremolinos) and the beach of Bajondillo (also a quiet beach).
#3 Crocodile Park
You can also go to several animal parks in Torremolinos. Crocodile Park is located a little outside the center of Torremolinos and here you can mainly view crocodiles and various other reptiles with kids. For example, you also have various turtles and other small animals that you can view. There are also shows with the crocodiles at certain times.
Kids can have their picture taken with a baby crocodile, but of course you have to make your own decision whether you want to. The park is not super big and the entrance fee is on the high side. Online reviews of the park are very mixed, with the high price being seen as a negative factor. Count on having a few hours of entertainment here in Torremolinos with kids.
Another animal park you can visit in the Torremolinos area is Selwo Marina. This is a 15-minute drive from the center of Torremolinos. At this animal park, the emphasis is on animals that live in the sea such as dolphins, penguins and sea lions.
In addition, here you have several monkeys and other small animals to watch. In this park you can have fun with kids for an hour (or 2). Online reviews about this animal park are also very variable, though.
#4 Benalmadena
A fun town to visit near Torremolinos with kids is Benalmadena. This town is just over a 10-minute drive from the center of Torremolinos and here there is plenty to do for families with kids. Of course, you also have several beaches here that you can visit.
We already described Selwo Marina which is in Benalmadena, but you also have a branch of Sea Life located here. This is also a great activity if the weather in Torremolinos is a little cooler and you still want to do something. You can see many different tropical fish at Sea Life, as well as rays, sharks and jellyfish. At different times of the day the animals are fed and our daughter always enjoys watching that.
You can also take the Benalmádena cable car in this city with kids. You take the cable car up the mountain and at the top of the mountain you have a magnificent view at the different vantage points on the mountain. You can also attend a show with birds of prey on the mountain, but you will pay an extra fee for this.
You can also go to a butterfly park in Benalmadena with kids. Mariposario de Benalmádena-Butterfly Park is not very big, but you will certainly have an hour of entertainment here. You can park your car for free at this butterfly park.
#5 Parque de la Batería
You can visit several beautiful parks in the area of Torremolinos with kids. Parque de la Bateria is located right in the center of Torremolinos and is a beautiful park to go for a walk. You also have a playground for kids here in the park. There is also a pond with rowing boats, but you cannot always rent these boats (sometimes there is even a lack of water in the lake of these boats). You have several eateries here where you can get something to eat and drink.
Another beautiful garden/park you can visit with kids is Molino de Inca Botanical Garden. You pay a small entrance fee and especially the Japanese garden is a must visit.
Finally, you can visit Parque de la Paloma which is located in Benalmadena. In this park there are several playgrounds and also several places to eat. Where you can get something to eat and drink. You also have a beautiful garden here with all the cacti you can visit.
