#1 Podium 19
At Podium 19, there is all kinds of things to do in Middelburg for teenagers. One of the most fun activities you can do here is Prison Island. Prison Island is a concept that you can play in many places in the Netherlands. In Middelburg, you have a total of 27 cells, where you play a game in each cell. So you can play a total of 27 different games and they can be physical games, dexterity games or knowledge games.
The assignment is to get as many points as possible in each game. You enter a cell and then the assignment usually speaks for itself. Each game lasts at most a few minutes, so you can play quite a few games in an hour (or 2). In some games you can be eliminated and then you have the option of leaving the cell for a while and then re-entering it.
We have played Prison Island several times now with our daughter and what we love about it is that you have to work together to collect as many points as possible. Besides playing Prison Island, you can also play a game of mini golf, bowling or solve an escape box at Podium 19.

#2 The Gaming Factory
You can also go gaming with teenagers in the Middelburg area at The Game Factory. The Gaming Factory is in Vlissingen, fifteen minutes by car from Middelburg. You can book a package here, where you can come and play unlimited gaming for a few hours. Of course, this is also a great activity when the weather in Middelburg is not so good and you still want to do something with teenagers.
When you think of gaming, you may think of sitting behind a screen all the time, but there are also plenty of games here where you are actively engaged. For example, if you are playing a game of air field hockey or have to throw balls into holes. Some games you can also play together with your teenagers and in some games you can also play against each other.
If you are with a family of at least 4 then you can also possibly play Pixel Play Floor for an hour with the family. This is an interactive play surface, where you can play different games with each other.
#3 Climbing Forest Kanoa
Another active activity you can do with teenagers in the Middelburg area is climbing. Klimbos Kanoa is a 15-minute drive from the center of Middelburg. At the climbing forest here you have different courses at 4, 8 and 12 meters high. They also have several zip lines where you can swing between the trees.
They differentiate here between teens who are under 13 and teens who are 13 and older. We climbed here ourselves with our daughter and found it a very nice park. What always appeals to us about climbing is that you as parents can also participate and that there is also enough challenge for parents in climbing the different courses.
Besides all the climbing, you can also do all kinds of other outdoor activities here during the summer months such as canoeing, archery, catapult building and shooting, SUPPING, raft building and many more such activities.
#4 Indoor Karting Middelburg
It is also possible to go karting with the family in Middelburg. At Indoor Karting Middelburg you can do this and you can drive different heats with the family. You pay per heat and a heat lasts 10 minutes. So this can be quite a short activity if you only do 1 heat. This also makes it quite a pricey activity if you do several heats.
Teenagers here must be at least 1.30 meters tall to be allowed in the children’s karts and they ride at special times. #5 Day at the beach
Of course if you are on vacation in Zeeland with teenagers, it is nice to go to the beach for a day. Especially in the hot summer months it is nice to cool off at the beach. From Middelburg you can be on the beach within fifteen minutes by car. From Middelburg it is best to drive to the beaches in Zoutelande or Dishoek.
As a family ourselves, we regularly visit Zoutelande beach and it is always very nice. The beaches are usually very quiet even in the summer months and there is plenty of room to lay down your towel. In addition, you have plenty of nice beach clubs for a snack and a drink. You can often rent a small beach house for a day at the beach through the beach clubs, often giving you two beds and some other stuff at your disposal.
Around the beach of Zoutelande are plenty of (paid) parking places where you can park. If you are still looking for a nice restaurant to dine in the evening, we can heartily recommend the restaurant of camping de Meerpaal. You can sit here both inside and outside and the food is very good with enough tasty options for teenagers!
Other activities Middelburg with adolescents
Besides the activities described above that you can do in Middelburg with teenagers, there are several other activities you can do.
Thus Middelburg has a very nice center which is definitely worth visiting. In the center you have nice squares with terraces where you can go for a snack and a drink. In addition, you can climb abbey tower Lange Jan for a beautiful view of the city.
You can also possibly take a tour of Middelburg’s canals with teens on an organized boat tour. This tour takes about 45 minutes. Of course, you can also see if you can rent a boat yourself as a family, then you have a little more freedom.
If your teenagers love jumping in a trampoline park, then you can go to Dock in Vlissingen. Here, besides jumping on the trampolines, they can also go bowling and laser gaming. As you can see, there is plenty you can do with teenagers in the Middelburg area.
