Goes with kids: exploring the area on an e-harlie and a top hotel!
It is fun to visit the city of Goes with kids when you are in Zeeland. We also included Namur in our blog Zeeland with kids. In fact, they have a very nice compact center, with a number of nice terraces where you can eat and drink something. In addition, you can explore the beautiful surroundings of Goes with your kids on an e-harlie. In addition, Goes is home to perhaps the nicest hotel in Zeeland: Katoen Goes. We found this to be the best hotel we have slept in Zeeland with our daughter. In this blog about Goes with kids, we describe our experiences with this city!

Goes with kids: the city center
The center of Goes is not large but very cozy. There is a central square, where there are several restaurants and cafes and where you can have a nice drink. A two-minute walk from this central square you also have a little harbor which looks very nice. Certainly the monumental buildings located in the center are worth seeing! Judging by the number of bicycles in the center, Goes is also a popular stopover for tourists exploring Zeeland by bicycle.
Goes with kids: clock’uus
Through a tip from our followers on Instagram (after our question of what to do in Goes with kids), we ended up at Klok’uus near Goes. At Klok’uus you can enjoy lunch on the terrace and there is plenty to do here for kids! They have both a fun indoor and outdoor playground. It wasn’t chosen as the best outing in Zeeland for nothing, either. Check the Klok’uus website in advance to see when the restaurant and playground are open, as this is not every day. Unfortunately, the day we were there the first time, it was closed, but we were able to rent e-harlies at Klok’uus at the time!
What fun this is to do! The e-harlies go about 25 kilometers per hour, which is just fast enough. We thought it was really super fun to explore the Goes area this way! Sophie also thoroughly enjoyed the ride on the back of the e-harlie. We rode a route of about 30 kilometers to Lake Veere.
A beautiful route through the green countryside! In total, with intermediate stops, it took us two hours. We could download the route through an app via route.co.uk and our phone could clip into the holder. As a result, we did not have to read a map and did not drive wrong once. Super convenient so!
We highly recommended this activity in the Goes area with kids. The sun was shining and we enjoyed the ride on the e- harlie. A few weeks later, we also went back there for the playground and terrace and what fun this was too! Outside, they have super trampolines, bouncy castles and a play area for some younger kids. Our daughter absolutely loved the super trampolines. Upon entry, you will be given a coin for this to jump.
There is also a go-kart track in a kind of barn, and above this go-kart track is a course for kids to climb. Super fun made and kids have to move in a different way each time during this course at height. The great thing is that there are nets all around it, so the kids can’t fall, so it’s completely safe. Our daughter did this course about ten times!
Outside, you have plenty of tables where you can sit in the sunshine. For kids there is also plenty on the menu what they like! Finally, there is also an indoor play area for when the weather is not so good, so kids can play inside. Here, too, it is possible for parents to be seated. Highly recommended when you are in the Goes area with kids.
Goes with kids: hotel Katoen Goes
We received another tip from our followers about where the best place to stay in the Goes area with kids. She recommended the Hotel of Cotton Goes. When we saw the pictures on the Internet we were immediately sold and what turned out to be a hit later on. The Hotel by Katoen Goes is located in the city center and we could park the car in the nearby parking garage that is a two-minute walk from the hotel.
What immediately stands out at the hotel is that everything looks super well cared for and neat. In addition, it is very tastefully decorated and even the smell in the hotel is nice. We were very excited about this hotel and it is the best hotel we have stayed at so far in Zeeland!
Cotton Goes: the room
Our room (45 square meters) that we had booked was the Junior Suite and was a very spacious family room, which was also very tastefully decorated. The room is under a 17th century roof with original wooden beams that creates a beautiful atmosphere in the room. It is a combination of old elements and modern gadgets. The windows can be opened electrically, for example.
Next to our double bed, a bed for our daughter Sophie had been added. There was also a living room area with a sofa and a nice chair to sit in. Next to it is a table with two chairs, at which you can eat something if necessary. You could turn the flat-screen TV, so you could watch TV from the couch and the bed.
In addition, the room had a beautiful spacious bathroom with free-standing bathtub. The ladies in the family always love this, so it was used frequently during our stay (during Mother’s Day). The whole bathroom really exuded luxury as far as we were concerned, and in the bathroom we also found bathrobes for our family to use.
Of course there was a good WIFI connection in the room which we always consider important during an overnight stay. In addition, the room has enough facilities that are convenient for families such as a refrigerator, safe, Espresso machine and air conditioning.
The hotel also has a really cool spa that you can book for private use. Unfortunately, we didn’t see this wellness until we went to check out of the hotel. In the hotel’s wellness area you will find a large Jacuzzi, Finnish sauna, steam room and rain shower. This spa can be booked with the room and when we saw the spa, in retrospect we regretted not having done so. Especially after a day in Goes with kids, this is a wonderful way to end the day with the family.
Katoen Goes: food and drink
The hotel Goes is known in the area not only for its hotel, but also for its good restaurant. A huge terrace sits in front of the hotel, where people can eat and drink. We dined here and had a delicious meal. In front of the restaurant is a small play area where our daughter also played for a while after she finished her fries and burger. Even if you are not sleeping at the hotel, we can recommend the restaurant if you are visiting Goes with kids.
We also took advantage of breakfast in the morning. Because of all the corona measures in place when we visited the hotel, it was not possible to have breakfast at the restaurant, so we had a delicious breakfast in our room. Breakfast was extensive. Fresh fruit, sandwiches, assorted toppings, yogurt with cereal, gravy and more. We left the hotel with a well-filled stomach!
Cotton Goes: conclusion
We enjoyed our overnight stay at Katoen Goes. Everything is so well arranged and everything is so tastefully decorated, we really had a top night’s stay. We ate well, bathed, slept and enjoyed our time at the hotel. If you are visiting Goes with kids, then we definitely recommend booking a room here! For more information about the rooms, restaurant and spa, check out the hotel ‘s website.
