Best travel time Warsaw with kids
The best travel time to visit Warsaw with kids is from May through September. These are the summer months in Warsaw and this is when you are most likely to have sunny weather. The temperature is generally fine then, which is obviously what you want when taking a city trip with the family.
The summer months are moderately warm, so it is not likely to be very hot in the city. Keep in mind, of course, that the city is most visited in the months of July and August because of international vacations. During these months, accommodation prices may be higher than in other months of the year.
Transportation to and in Warsaw
Most families with kids arrive at the Warsaw airport. The airport is less than 10 kilometers from the city center, and by train you can get from the airport to the city center in 20 minutes. This is the fastest way to get into the city. If you want to see more of Poland, it is advisable to rent a car at the airport.

#1 Historic Center
It is definitely fun if you take a city break to Warsaw with kids to visit the historic center of the city. Rynek Starego Miasta is the city’s central square and this is a very nice square to visit with kids. You have many historic buildings here, as well as many cozy terraces where you can go for a bite to eat and a drink. We found this a very nice place to grab a bite to eat in any case.
One of the most famous buildings in Warsaw is the Barbican. This is a beautiful palace, where you can still walk on the walls of the palace. By the way, if you want more background on the city it is fun to take a Free Walking Tour of the city with kids. You have many organizations that offer these types of guided walking tours of the city.
These walking tours often go through a specific neighborhood and the principle works the same everywhere. You meet with the guide at a certain spot in the city and you take a walk around the city for a few hours. Afterwards, you can give the guide a monetary gift of what you thought the tour was worth.
The city is also home to a lot of street art, especially in the Praga Quarter. This is a hip neighborhood that is also well worth visiting. You can also book a street art tour of the city if you find this interesting as a family.
#2 Warsaw Zoo
You can also go to the zoo in Warsaw with kids. This zoo is quite large and you can see several large African animals such as the rhino, lion, giraffe, crocodile, zebra and elephant. The price-quality ratio of this zoo is very good. Especially when compared to zoos in western Europe.
In the middle of the zoo is a large playground with a large picnic area next to it. The playground consists of different parts, and each part of the playground in turn is suitable for a particular age group. #3 Suntago Water Park
In the hot summer months, it can be nice to go to a water park. In Warsaw you have the Suntago water park located about an hour by car from the center of Warsaw where you can go. You have a huge pool with slides both inside and outside here. Therefore, you can also go here perfectly well when the weather is not so good.
This water park has as many as 3.2 kilometers of slides and throughout the complex there are 300 real palm trees. In total, you have more than 35 slides here that kids can go down. This includes some very spectacular slides, which also often have a length restriction, so check the website beforehand to see exactly where all the kids are allowed off.
Besides the various pools and slides, there is also a whole wellness center at the water park. You can have a great time here for an entire day with the family in this water park. You also have several restaurants at the water park where you can have some food. #4 Rope Park Warsaw
You can also go to a climbing park in Warsaw with kids. This climbing park is located next to the Warsaw Zoo, which is why these two children’s activities are also great to combine. From the old town, you can walk to this climbing park in about 15 minutes. You have three levels of climbing at the climbing park, making it suitable for both kids and adults.
Kids as young as 4 years old can come and climb here and they can climb at the lowest level and that course is at a height of 1.5 meters. This also makes it very easy for parents to supervise the kids. Kids as young as 130 cm tall can therefore climb the mid-level course. This course is at a height of 3 to 5 meters.
For the highest course, kids must be 140 cm tall. This course is at a height of 8 to 10 meters, You have 17 obstacles here and 3 different ziplines. We always find climbing at a climbing park a fun activity to do with our daughter, since as parents you can be active here together with the kids.
#5 Lazienki Park
You have several parks in Warsaw that you can go to with kids. Lazienki Park is a beautiful city park in Warsaw. The park is located slightly outside the center of Warsaw and is easily accessible by public transportation. You also have a palace located on an island in this city park.
You can take a great walk in this park and escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a while with kids. In the park you will find many squirrels and peacocks, and it is possible to take a boat out on the lake with kids. In the park you also have deck chairs in several places where you can relax. The park also has several food trucks where you can go for snacks and drinks.
Another fine place to go for a walk are the city’s university gardens. These are beautiful gardens and these gardens consist of two sections. You have the botanical gardens and library gardens here.
Other children’s activities Warsaw

#6 Science Museum: you can also go to a fun museum in Warsaw with kids. The Copernicus Science Museum has more than 450 interactive exhibits where kids can do experiments and learn things related to science. The museum is divided into different knowledge sections and there is also a planetarium at the museum for which you have to buy a separate ticket.
English translations are also available at most exhibits, so kids can do the experiments just fine with parental help.
#7 Palace of Culture and Science: this palace is a striking building in the city. It is a huge building and you can visit this building. In fact, you have a viewing platform on the 30th floor of the building where you have a great view of the city. In addition, the building includes a movie theater, a swimming pool and several theaters.
#8 Cruise on the Vistula: you can also book a cruise on a traditional boat in Warsaw with the family and see the city from the water that way. This cruise takes about an hour, making it very suitable for kids as well.
#9 Baja Bikes: you can also explore Warsaw with the family by bike. The organization Baja Bikes also organizes guided bike tours of the city in Warsaw, only these bike tours are not suitable for young kids. You then take a 3-hour tour of the city and we always think this is a nice introduction to the city. After all, you often get to places you wouldn’t easily get to as a tourist yourself.
#10 Soccer Stadium Poland: you can also visit Poland’s national stadium in Warsaw with kids. In addition to sports games, concerts, for example, are held here, and you can book a tour of this impressive stadium.
