Play forest Uden with kids

Play forest Uden with kids: all the information!

The Maashorst Play Forest in Uden is a bit of a combination of a playground and a small patch of forest. The play forest is not super big, but it is a must visit. We also included this play forest in our blog about the ten most fun play forests in Brabant with kids. We combined this play forest with a visit to the fun play forest Herperduin, which is only 15 minutes away from this play forest by car. This way we spent a whole day on the road in Brabant with our daughter and spent a whole day in nature with the family. We will give you all the information about play forest Uden with kids in this blog and hopefully the many pictures we have added to the blog will give you a good impression of the play forest in Uden.

Play forest Uden with kids: maashorst play forest

Of course (as with most play forests) we initially walked the wrong way when we parked the car. If you go on the Internet to look up the address of the play forest, it only lists the street Bosdreef in Uden. Now this street is fairly long and there are cars parked everywhere along the side of the road. Actually, it’s a matter of just driving down Bosdreef until the play forest is indicated on the right side of the road. Now we first walked through the forest for a bit and finally came out at the back of the play forest.

What is most distinctive about this play forest is the playground equipment at the center of the play forest: the sleeping giant. Actually, the whole playground equipment is not very much, but for kids it is still very interesting to climb the giant’s face and slide down again. This sleeping giant also includes a slide for the kids, but sliding from the giant’s nose is just a little more fun for most kids.

If you walk further into the forest, there is also a fun climbing course with wires they have set up. For our daughter, this is always a kind of game to complete the entire course without touching the ground. If she does touch the ground then she has to start over. Since she falls off several times, it takes us about half an hour here before she runs the whole course without touching the ground, and then of course it has to be done again in reverse.

If you walk further back again, there is also a playground with a slide for kids. This is an excellent device for somewhat smaller kids. Parallel to the playground there is also a stretch of forest. In this forest you will find several huts built there and all kinds of creations that the volunteers of the play forest made with wood such as some kind of benches and chairs made of wood.

This section is not super big, but if your kids enjoy building cabins and being busy with branches, it is definitely a great place. Especially since the play forest is fairly compact, it’s also fairly more manageable if you sit down somewhere by yourself.

Play forest Uden with kids: water section

And like most play forests in Brabant, this one includes a section of water where kids can play. Near the sleeping giant’s playground, you have a little water where there is also a water pump. Here you can see kids with boots playing in the water with sticks and such, and there is also the opportunity to sit on various benches here. You will also find a single picnic bench here.

The water area is fun for kids to play with water, but it is a missed opportunity that there is no play equipment in the water like you have at the water playground in the Breda Play Forest, for example. That could be another great addition to this fun play forest in Uden. Because we combined this play forest with a visit to play forest Herperduin, we spent a full day with the family on the road and out in nature.

Play forest Uden with kids: food and drink

You can’t eat anything at a restaurant or kiosk near play forest Uden with kids. If you want to eat at the play forest itself, you must bring your own from home. This is also done by most families and when we were there there was plenty of eating and drinking by families in the forest itself.

If you do want to eat somewhere for lunch with the family, restaurant the Pannekoekenbakker-Zeeland is a good option. This restaurant is a five-minute drive from the play forest and you can eat pancakes outside on the terrace or inside the restaurant. In the garden near the terrace, this restaurant also has a playground for kids with some trampolines and some climbing equipment.
