Most beautiful beaches Sardinia

Most beautiful beaches Sardinia with kids. 9 top beaches described!

What are the most beautiful beaches of Sardinia in Italy? We visited a total of 21 beaches across the island in three weeks of vacation in Sardinia, and we list in this travel blog what the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia are. The beaches are in no particular order as each beach has something different beautiful. These are the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia:

Most beautiful beaches Sardinia with kids #1 Spiagga la Pelosa

This is perhaps the most famous beach in Sardinia and has often appeared in all kinds of lists of most beautiful beaches in the world. The water is so clear that we have never seen this anywhere else in Europe. You can walk far into the sea and still only be up to your knees in the water.

Is it a nice beach to visit? To visit once and take some pictures is fine, but then you’ve seen it.

In the summer months when we were there, the beach was very crowded.

In addition, you pay 2 euros per hour to park your car and you have to pay admission to the beach (you get a band so the inspectors can see that you have paid).

In addition, you’ll need a mat under your towel so you don’t take sand home with you. If you don’t have a mat under your towel, you could face a hefty fine.

You can rent umbrellas and beach beds on the beach and we had to pay 30 euros for two beds and an umbrella. So you can see that a day at the beach here can be quite pricey.

An alternative beach is the adjacent beach Spiaggia del Gabbiano. Here you can park your car for free, the entrance to the beach costs nothing and we did not read anything about the mandatory mat. The water there is just as clear and it is a little less crowded!

These beaches are located in the northwestern part of the island of Sardinia.

Most beautiful beaches Sardinia with kids #2 Beaches near nature reserve La Maddalena

We visited the beaches Cala Di Trana, Spargi and Porto Della Madonna in Maddalena nature reserve during a day trip by boat, and the beaches here are really beautiful.

The advantage is that most of the beaches can only be reached by boat, making these beaches much less crowded. These beaches definitely belong in the list of most beautiful beaches in Sardinia.

Cala dit Trana is beautifully situated in a kind of bay and you can walk up into the dunes to photograph the beach from above. Also on this tour you will stop in the town of Maddalena, which is a nice place to walk around for an hour and grab a terrace.

We paid 55 euros per person for the tour (and our daughter 40 euros) and our boat left from Cannigione opposite our beautiful apartment we had in this super cute village. From our apartment we could book this tour at the reception desk.

Most beautiful beaches Sardinia with kids #3 Cala Capriccioli

In this town you have four different pieces of beach and especially with the rocks added, it is very beautiful here. There is plenty of parking for your car and opportunities to get something to eat.

Just don’t go there on weekends, as the beaches will be completely packed with locals.

Most beautiful beaches Sardinia with kids #4 Baia Sardinia

Ok, this beach may not be the most beautiful beach, but especially with our five-year-old daughter, we found this to be one of the finest beaches in Sardinia. The water here is also clear and you can walk very far into the sea before you really have to go swimming.

Parking here costs 1.5 euros per hour and 7.5 euros for an entire day. It is a narrow beach, so you have very much shade from the high wall that runs along the entire beach. Especially if you don’t have your own parasol with you, this is very nice.

In addition, the town has a nice promenade with several tasty restaurants, giving you all facilities at hand.

Most beautiful beaches Sardinia with kids #5 Cala Spinoza

This beach in the northeastern part of the island is very spectacular and looks super beautiful from above. You have to scramble a bit to get there via a path along the restaurant, but it’s doable even with kids.

The beach itself is small, making it quite crowded, and don’t expect to be able to lie here super de luxe. You are really between the rocks. This is really a beach to go to for an hour, take nice pictures and possibly snorkel.

Regarding the latter, it was a bit disappointing. We had high hopes after reading several reports online, but the number of fish we saw was a bit disappointing. We were actually hoping to spot turtles here, but we didn’t see these animals here either.

If you want a beach where you can be fine with kids go to Rena Bianca beach. Fine eatery on the beach where you can have a nice meal and also the beach is a lot more accessible.

You can also follow a whole path along the rocks at this beach and take nice pictures that way.

Most beautiful beaches Sardinia with kids #6 Cala Brandinchini

This long sandy beach has a spacious parking lot, which does require quite a bit of off-road driving. It is called little Tahiti because the water here is super clear. It certainly is and again you can walk very far into the sea. In addition, you can snorkel quite nicely.

Because the beach is narrow, it does get very crowded and in the summer every stretch of beach is occupied. Fortunately, you can go far into the sea so there is plenty of space in the sea for your kids to play.

At the north end of the beach (you can choose between south and north at the parking lot) there is a great little restaurant to have some food and drinks.

Most beautiful beaches Sardinia with kids #7 the beaches around the Golfo di Orosei

There is something for everyone. You can rent your own private motorboats here. You can also visit the beaches with small motor boats with small groups and with somewhat larger boats with larger groups.

We booked a tour from our hotel Esse Palmasera in the town of Cala Gonone on a large boat, as these tours were the cheapest.

In total there are nine beaches around the Golfo di Orosei, three of which you will visit with our boat. The somewhat smaller boats visit multiple beaches, but for us, three beaches were enough.

We found Spiaggia del Gabbiani to be a very nice beach. At Spiaggia del Gabbiani you can also jump off the rocks into the super beautiful and clear water which our daughter absolutely loved.

In addition, there are several caves that you can visit by boat. At Cala Luna, you also have three different caves on the beach that you can walk into. Especially with kids, this is a fun way to explore and see the caves. In doing so, you also have plenty of shade because of these caves.

Tip: take some bread/cake with you on your trip and crumble it in the water and you’ll see dozens of fish feeding on it. Here we saw quite a lot of fish.

Most beautiful beaches Sardinia with kids #8 Porto Pino beach

We found this to be the nicest beach in Sardinia and for the following reasons. It is a very long beach, so you can have a nice walk along the beach. As a result, there are also large stretches of beach where it is very quiet.

Furthermore, there are several nice beach bars where you can all eat and drink. We have seen this phenomenon very rarely throughout Sardinia.

If you walk all the way to the back, you will come to the sand dunes, where you can have a great time, especially with kids. When we were there it did blow hard on different parts of the beach.

Most beautiful beaches Sardinia with kids #9 Beach of Alghero center

This is certainly not the most beautiful beach in Sardinia, but because of the super fun beachfront promenade with nice places to eat, it is definitely recommended. In addition, you can walk from the beach into the nice old town of Alghero, which does make this beach highly recommended.

From the sea you can see the old center. Of course, you also have many beach bars here, where you can rent chairs and an umbrella and have some good food and drinks. On Alghero’s promenade, you can also book several tours to different nearby islands.

Tip: if you visit the island by car yourself, bring a sturdy umbrella from home. It can be windy in Sardinia, so you’ll need to bring a good parasol. If you are by plane, you can buy an umbrella in one of the many stores. Every Italian from the island itself brings their own umbrella, as there is little shade on many beaches.

Can you snorkel well on the Most Beautiful beaches Sardinia with kids?

We think this is a tricky question because it depends mostly on where you’ve all been. We ourselves thought it was a bit disappointing in terms of the fish we saw. But you can certainly see whole schools of fish, but don’t expect to encounter an entire aquarium. Especially if you bring something made of bread in the water, many fish come to it in different places.

Where to sleep in Sardinia with kids?

We slept in five different places in Sardinia, so we could easily explore the entire island from these hotels. So we drove to a different beach almost every day by car in the three weeks we visited the island. We slept in the following hotels:

most beautiful places in Sardinia

Stintino: Park hotel Asinara

This hotel with pool is close to Spiaggia la Pelosa beach. They have one of the most delicious breakfasts we have ever had at a hotel (and there are quite a few). Everything is in perfect taste.

Click here for more information about this hotel. And click here for the video we made of this hotel.

Cannigione: Residence Riva Azzura

This apartment was located in the lovely town of Cannigione and had a beautiful view of the pools and the sea. There are several small pools at the complex, which overlook the water.

In addition, there are several nice restaurants around this hotel (Restaurant Old Cutter is highly recommended!) and the supermarket is within walking distance of the hotel. As a result, every morning we got fresh baguettes from the supermarket that we ate for breakfast on our beautiful terrace.

Cala Gonone: Club Esse Palmasera

This hotel is a bit like a campground with a real animation team. It has a large pool and plenty to do for kids. The hotel is within walking distance of the harbor.

In the pool you do have to wear a swim cap, which takes some getting used to. We thought it was an excellent room. The breakfast alone does not amount to much in our opinion.

Teulada: Hotel Belvedere

This hotel is very quiet on a hill. There is nothing within walking distance, so you have to take the car to go to the supermarket, for example. However, you can eat at the restaurant every night. Breakfast is fine and the hotel is rated a generous 9 on booking.com. There is also a swimming pool near it that is generally very quiet.

Alghero: Hotel Florida.

This hotel is located on the promenade of Alghero and from here you can visit the beach and the old town. The hotel has an excellent pool with hot tub (which is just not hot). In front of the hotel, on the promenade, there are nice hip places where a DJ is spinning and you can have a cocktail.
