Family-friendly cities in menorca
You can visit a number of fun cities on Menorca with kids during your vacation. We describe the nicest two cities.
#1 Ciutadella de Menorca: this is the second largest city on the island and it is fun to visit the old town center. For example, in the center you have a number of old buildings and palaces, such as Palacio Torresaura, Palacio Olivar and the cathedral Sante Maria de Ciutadella.
The port is also nice to visit and around the port there are also some restaurants and cafes where you can have a bite to eat and a drink. A big advantage of the island is that it is quite kid-friendly and most restaurants on the island also have high chairs and children’s menus.
#2 Mahon: This is the capital of Menorca and also this city is worth a morning or afternoon visit if you are on vacation in Menorca with kids. For example, the Plaça d’Espanya is a cozy square that exudes a typically Spanish atmosphere.
You will find historic buildings and street musicians in this square, and you can eat tapas and drink sangria. There are also two beautiful churches in the center: the 18th-century Santa Maria and the 13th-century Iglesia de Sant Francesc.
This city also has a harbor, where you can book various tours of the area. There are also several large markets to visit daily. In that regard, you really don’t need to take a whole day for both cities, but if you have a rental car, for example, and you want to visit a city with the family by the end of the afternoon, these are both great options.

Cala ‘N Bosch: this is the most famous resort on the island and is very popular among families with kids. Cala ‘N Bosch beach is located in a small bay and there are plenty of restaurants near the harbor where you can grab a bite to eat and a drink.
The beach is quite clear and you can easily park your car near the beach. The beach slopes slowly into the sea and in summer you have plenty of beach bars there. From Ciutadella it is a little more than a ten-minute drive to this Menorca beach with kids.
Cala Blanca: this is another beach that is about a ten-minute drive from the town of Ciutadella. This beach is also located in a very nice bay with waterfront restaurants. For example, here you also have restaurant Cala Blanca with a swimming pool with a small water slide by the restaurant.
This is a great option for lunch while the kids are having fun in the pool. On the beach you can rent all kinds of things like a pedal boat and a canoe.
Cala Galdana: this is one of the most beautiful beaches in the south of the island. You have a beautiful view of the bay here, and the water of the sea slopes gradually.
Cala En Porter: this beach is also located in the south of the island and is very clean. This beach is also beautiful and from the town of Mahon you can drive to this beach in 15 minutes.
Cala Son Bou: this is a beach with very good beach facilities. The beach here is no less than four kilometers long and various water sports are offered here. This is also a beach that is very suitable for families with slightly older kids.

This water park is located in the resort of Cala ‘N Bosch and has several slides, where you have to go down several slides with a tire. There is also a children’s pool with several small play equipment for the slightly younger kids. The water park is quite manageable and you also have plenty of sunbeds around the pools here.

#5 Aqua Center: this water park is about a ten-minute drive from Ciutadella and also at this water park they have several slides, most of which you go down by belt. There is also an area for small kids with some smaller slides for these kids.
There is also a play area with an air cushion and the like at this water park. You also have plenty of sunbeds here by the pool and also lawns where you can sunbathe.
#6 Play Park de Ilucaitx Park: this park is located in the north of the island and kids can play miniature golf, ride ponies, feed farm animals and clamber on various playground equipment.
#7 Lloc de Menorca: this small zoo is located in the southeast of the island and from Mahon it is ten minutes away by car. They have farm animals here and some other small animals like snakes, crocodiles, monkeys, wallabies and birds of prey.
They also have an aquarium and a tropical garden. The zoo is fun for kids because they can, for example, feed the monkeys and get a snake around their neck. Expect to be entertained here for an hour or two. In the hot summer months, this animal park also has a small water park for kids to cool off in.
#8 Castillo Menorca: This play park is a combination of a playground and a swimming pool. Kids here can jump on trampolines, play mini-golf, ride electric cars and motorcycles, play in the sandbox and playground equipment and take a dip in the swimming pool with slide. It is also possible to go karting with kids here in Menorca at this play park.
The park’s prices are not too high and it is possible to have a bite to eat at the park, which also allows you to stay here longer with the family.

#9: Nature Park de s’Albufera des Grau: If you want to get out into nature on Menorca with kids, this nature park is a good option. From Mahon you can get to this national park in ten minutes by car, and the park has several lakes and is by the sea. At the visitor center of the national park you can get information about the different animals that live here in this park such as the land tortoise and the flamingo.
In the nature reserve you can spot many different bird species, including the flamingo. If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the island with the family, hiking in this area is a nice option!
#10 Dolphin excursion: from the resort of Cala ‘N Bosch, you can book an excursion of a few hours at the port to go dolphin spotting. Around Menorca, these wild dolphins swim in the sea.
#11 White village of Binibeca: this village is very photogenic and a popular destination to visit by tourists. This white village is located by the sea twenty minutes away by car from Mahon. You can stroll through the village and visit the village’s white sandy beach. Near this village is also another water park (Splash Sur Menorca Waterpark).
Best travel time Menorca with kids
The best travel time to visit Menorca with kids is from June through September. Then you have the highest temperatures on the island and a very good chance of sunny weather. July and August are the busiest months on the island because of international vacations. If you want to avoid these crowds, the best time to go on vacation to Menorca is during the months of June and September.
If you travel to Menorca outside of these months, the chances of lower temperatures and rain showers are a lot higher, and you need a little luck with the weather.
Family-friendly restaurant Menorca
Menorca is a tourist island and of course you have plenty of family-friendly restaurants on the island. The island is completely focused on kids, and therefore even in the restaurants you will generally find all the amenities that are convenient for families with kids, such as high chairs and separate children’s menus, for example.
The advantage is that most restaurants in Menorca are open all day, so you don’t have to eat very late with dinner. You have many Spanish restaurants where you can eat delicious tapas with kids, but there are also definitely several international restaurants on the island. For example, you have the Italian restaurant Don Gelato & Coffee on Menorca, where kids get to choose their own toppings on the pizza.
They also have several Indian restaurants which we are always fans of because of the many vegetarian dishes they have here. You can have a great meal on Menorca with kids at Masala Indian Restaurante on the island.
And if you want a quick bite to eat on the island, there are also several fast food restaurants on Menorca. So you have 4 restaurants of Burger King on the island and also a restaurant of McDonald’s. We always like it when we can just have a quick bite to eat with our daughter on vacation as well.
Family-friendly hotel Menorca
If you did not book a package tour, but a separate flight then you still need to book a hotel. You might choose to stay in several places on the island.
