Palma de Mallorca with kids
During your vacations in Mallorca with kids, you should still visit the island’s capital at least once. Palma de Mallorca has a beautiful old center and many beautiful squares, churches, and parks. You can enjoy walking through the narrow streets of downtown. The city has many elevation changes and many steps to walk up.

Palma de Mallorca is also nicknamed little Barcelona. For example, the city has its own La Rambla (boulevard) and the artist Gaudi was involved in building Mallorca’s beautiful Cathedral. Of course, you can visit this cathedral. Opposite this cathedral you will also find the magnificent royal palace Palau de l’Almudaina.
Another beautiful Gothic-style building is the Castell Bellver that stands just outside the city. One of the few round castles in the world, it is one of Palma de Mallorca’s busiest attractions. In addition, it is nice to have a drink in the city’s central main square Plaza Mayor. In summer, there are also many living statues in this square and street theater.

It is also possible to rent bikes in this city or book an organized bike tour of Palma de Mallorca with a Dutch guide through Baja Bikes. Children under eight can then ride on a child’s seat on the back of the parents, and kids eight and older can ride on their own during the 3.5-hour tour of the city. We wrote about this city in the blog Palma de Mallorca with kids.

Water parks + amusement parks in Mallorca
You can take kids to several water parks and amusement parks on the island in Mallorca. We list the best parks below.
#2 Western Waterpark: This is one of Mallorca’s largest water parks and the park has dozens of slides. Off some slides you go with a strap or a mat and on others you go down without aids. There are also slides that you can slide down in a mega-band with the whole family.
For the smaller kids there are separate sections in the water park with some smaller slides and other play equipment in the water. The water park is themed Western with cowboys and Indians. Keep in mind that there are several slides that kids can only get off when they are 1.20 meters tall.
So check the website carefully in advance to see which slides are all suitable for your kids. From Palma de Mallorca, you can drive to this water park in about 20 minutes. For more information, check out Western Waterpark‘s website.

#3 Aqualand El Arenal: This is another water park located about a 20-minute drive from Palma de Mallorca, and this water park also has dozens of slides. Some of the slides look very spectacular in the shape of snakes. Again, most of the slides require you to go down the slide with a tire.
Aqualand also has a section for small children, with Adventureland, for example, already having 12 slides for the smallest kids. You have different sections in this water park that are suitable for the slightly younger kids. There is also a beach here where they produce waves 1 meter high. This water park also has a lazyriver where you can relax in a tire and let the current carry you along.
#4 Hidropark Alcudia: This water park is located in the town of Alcudia and can be reached in about three quarters of an hour from the capital. This water park is slightly smaller than the two water parks we discussed above. The park describes itself as a family park, and again you have some spectacular slides, but the focus is a bit more on younger kids. For this target group, different sections in the water park are

#5 Kathmandu Park: this is a park which is a combination of a water park with a number of attractions. The park also belongs to a hotel complex, but it is possible to buy single tickets for the park. In terms of pool, the park focuses mainly on young children with a sort of large pirate ship with several smaller slides for the kids. This park is also about a 20-minute drive away from the capital.
Most attractions in the park are with 3d glasses on. There are some attractions such as the haunted castle where a minimum age is required. There is also an indoor playground on the premises.
#6 Tirolina Go! Mallorca : if you want to do something active in Mallorca with kids, you can visit this climbing park on the island. You have here different climbing courses for different ages. Kids from 5 years old with a minimum height of 1.10 meters can already climb here.
You have a family course and a sport course (minimum height 1.45 meters). We always really enjoy climbing with our daughter. You also have several ziplines at the courses and it is also possible to swing from height with the Tarzan Swing. Just keep in mind to climb in the early morning or late afternoon during the hot summer months due to the heat.
We have climbed once in the middle of the day in summer and then it is really much too hot. Always take plenty of water with you, too, so that you can drink something every now and then between climbs.

#7 Aquarium Palma: This is an aquarium found in the capital city. The aquarium has as many as 700 different species of marine animals and you should count on spending about two hours with this activity in Mallorca with kids. For example, they have seahorses, squids, sharks, NEMO fish and many more different species. Kids can also watch a 3d movie here.
Outside the aquarium is also a playground for kids. Of course, this is also a good alternative if the weather is not so good in Mallorca and you still want to do something with kids on the island. If you come a little later in the day it can be difficult to park the car at the aquarium.
#8 Safari Zoo: Located in the east of the island is this safari park. You can explore the park with your own (rental) car or with the safari train. You will find in this safari park most of the large African animals such as the elephant, zebra, rhino and giraffe. However, it is quite a drive from the capital Palma de Mallorca to this safari park.
If you enter the park by (rental) car, you have the risk of monkeys coming onto the car. In any case, make sure you take the antenna off the car when you enter the park. The animal park also has a fun play area for kids. Keep in mind that the zoo is outdated and not all animals are in large enclosures.

Alcudia with kids
One of the most beautiful towns on the island of Majorca is Alcudia. This oldest city on the island is almost completely walled and it is fun to visit the old town center of the city. This downtown area is also car-free, so it is good to visit with kids. Just outside the city center is also a fun playground for kids.

The town’s beach is also very popular with families, as the water is shallow and the sea slopes gently. In addition, the beach offers all kinds of water sports and playground equipment. In that regard, although it is a busy beach, there are plenty of amenities. Thus, there are plenty of catering establishments around this beautiful white and wide beach of the city.
What is also a possibility is to rent a boat in the port of Alcudia and spend a few hours sailing around the bay of Alcudia with the family. Renting a boat is not cheap, but the scenery is beautiful. As we mentioned earlier in the blog, you can also go to a family water park at Alcudia. We wrote about this resort the blog Alcudia with kids.

Family-friendly beaches Mallorca
Most people go to Majorca with kids because of the island’s sun and beautiful beaches. There are beautiful beaches all over the island. We name them clockwise.
North of Mallorca
You can visit Playa de Muro in the north of Majorca with kids. This beach has the so-called Blue Flag award. This means that the beach meets strict requirements such as that the quality of the water is good, the beach and facilities are clean and that attention is paid to nature.
The beach is about six kilometers long and you will find plenty of restaurants and bars where you can have some food and drinks with the family. However, the wind here can be a bit stronger than on the rest of the island, making parasailing, water skiing and diving popular here. Also in the north of the island are the beaches of Alcudia that we have just mentioned.

East of Mallorca
You can find the most popular beaches among families with kids in southeastern Mallorca. For example, here you have Cala Llombards. The beach is not super big, but it is one of the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca. The sea is super blue and slopes gently and there are hardly any waves. The beach is in a bay with pine trees and steep cliffs. You can also do great snorkeling here and there are plenty of amenities such as beach beds.
Less than a half-hour drive east of Cala Llombards is the beach of Cala d’Or. You have a total of five beaches here, and these beaches are also very popular with families vacationing in Mallorca with kids. This is another beautiful area, and again it is fun to rent a boat and visit the various bays. Snorkeling is also excellent near these beaches.

South of Mallorca
You can visit the popular beach Es Trenc in the south of Majorca with kids. Again, the sea is shallow and you have fine beach sand. It is a somewhat quieter beach, but the beach is beautiful. The facilities here are limited, but there are a number of beach bars where you can have something to eat and drink with the family. Even though it does have some remoteness, it can be quite crowded in the summer.
El Arenal is one of the most popular beaches on the island and has wide sandy beaches with white sand. You have plenty of beach bars here for snacks and drinks. However, it is a beach where there is a party culture, and in the summer you can find plenty of young people on the beach. If you prefer more quiet beaches, then it is better to skip this beach during your vacations in Mallorca with kids.

West of Mallorca
In the west of the island is the capital Palma de Mallorca, and here too you can go to the beach(Playa de Palma). At this beach you have plenty of facilities and there are plenty of stores, restaurants and bars along the promenade for a bite to eat and a drink. If you and your kids like fun then you can spend an afternoon at the beach in Magaluf. This place is known for its partying and there is plenty of entertainment in bars and nightclubs here in the area.

Other children’s activities Mallorca
Of course, there is even more to do in Mallorca with kids. We briefly outline the other activities below.
#11 Jungle Parc Mallorca: here, too, you can go climbing with kids in Mallorca. The climbing park is already suitable for kids as young as four years old who can climb in a separate section at a height of about 1 meter. If kids are at least 1.35 meters tall, they can also climb in the rest of the park under the supervision of one of the parents.
You have a route here at a height of three to ten meters that you can cover with all kinds of obstacles along the way. For example, there is a section in the sky that you can travel by bicycle. Again, of course, the best time to go climbing with the kids is in the early morning or late afternoon.
#12 Caves del Drach: You can visit a number of caves in the east of Majorca with kids. A popular tourist attraction, these caves are so popular mainly because of the largest underground lake in them. A tour of the dragon’s caves takes about an hour and the route is 1,200 meters long. Kids ages three through 12 pay about half of an adult ticket.

#13 Dolphin spotting: you can also see dolphins in the wild in Mallorca with kids. From the port of Alcudia you can book an excursion and the chances of seeing the animals are almost 100%. You sail by boat to the cliffs of Cabo Formentor in the Serra de Tramuntana. You can get quite close to the dolphins by boat during this excursion.
#14 Train ride from Palma to Soller: One of the most popular activities on the island is this train ride from the capital to the town of Soller. The train used to be used to transport products such as olives from Soller to the port, but today it is a tourist train. The ride from Palma de Mallorca to Soller takes about an hour and is considered one of the most beautiful train rides in the world.
You have beautiful views from the train during the train ride. From Soller, you can also take a streetcar to the city’s port. Just keep in mind that it is quite a touristy little train.

#15 Torrent de Pareis: in the north of the island lies this canyon and the drive to this canyon is already spectacular with many hairpin turns. The beach at this canyon is beautiful, but keep in mind that it is a pebble beach and water shoes are not a luxury.
To get to the beach, from the parking lot it is another 500-meter walk through tunnels and with beautiful views before you get to the beach. It is also possible to go hiking in the gorge itself. Keep in mind that it can be quite crowded here in the summer months.
#16 Cap de Formentor: another great route you can take across the island of Majorca with kids by car is the drive to the lighthouse of Cap de Formentor. Along the way, you can stop at several viewpoints that give spectacular views of the area.
Just keep in mind that during the summer months it is so crowded that the road is closed to private vehicles between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., so you have to set out early by car.

#17 Marineland: this is a kind of zoo with mostly animals that live around the sea. There is also an area here where kids can swim and there is an area where you can go to the beach. There are many shows with animals. It is not our thing, as we prefer to see the animals in the wild, but it is also an option to go to if you are in Mallorca with kids.
The online reviews about this park are not too good either. Many families with kids report that they do not like the price-quality ratio of the park. The prices are quite high to take a picture with a dolphin, for example, and the park is quite small.
#18 Market of Inca: The market in the town of Inca is the largest open-air market in Mallorca. Every Thursday in the morning is this market and you can buy all kinds of products in the market. If you like shopping then this market is a nice option to go In Mallorca with kids.

Majorca with kids: car rental
If you are going to do the activities described above in Mallorca with kids, then a car will come in very handy. Basically, there is public transportation in the city, but we still really like having our own car. We actually find the cars from Sunny Cars are always top notch!
You actually have all costs included in the price here and are insured for most things (including your deductible). We have had problems with this in the past with other rental companies, because all kinds of costs are added at the destination. With Sunny Cars, you know that’s not the case and that’s a nice feeling. You can additionally cancel the car 1 hour before your reservation free of charge. You can also rent a car on Mallorca with kids from Sunny Cars.
Check out the different rental cars here.

Mallorca is a tourist island, which is why you have plenty of nice family-friendly restaurants where you can go for a bite to eat and a drink. Of course, you have most of the restaurants located in Palma de Mallorca. We name several family-friendly restaurants in our blog Palma de Mallorca with kids. We also did this for the city of Alcudia in our blog Alcudia with kids.
Of course, in the rest of the island you also have several family-friendly restaurants. We list below some of these family-friendly restaurants in Mallorca.
Il Pizzettaro Mallorca: in the seaside resort of Cala d’Or is this Italian restaurant where you can eat different types of pizza and pasta with kids. This restaurant has a good price-quality ratio.
La Vermuteria: If you are looking for a family-friendly restaurant where you can eat delicious Spanish tapas, this restaurant is a good option. This restaurant is also located in seaside resort Cala d’Or. It is really a family restaurant and you can let kids try different tapas here.
Fast food chains: if you want to eat quickly in Majorca with kids you can always go to the various fast food chains. Especially in the capital Palma de Mallorca, McDonald’s and Burger King restaurants are well represented. Every now and then we like to take our daughter for a quick bite to eat at these chains.
Best travel time Mallorca
The best travel time to visit Mallorca with kids is during the summer months of June, July and August. In these months you have the best chance of sunny weather and temperatures are the highest. You can go to the pool or the beach with the family just fine during this period. Of course, this period is high season in Mallorca and it can be crowded on the island.
If you like peace and quiet, it is best to visit the island during the other months. If you go in May or September, there are still plenty of sunny days during this period, but the weather is a bit changeable.
