Hotel Maashof with kids: family-friendly hotel in Venlo!
We have now visited the city of Venlo several times with our daughter and every time we have a great time in this city in Limburg. We already wrote about the city in the blog Venlo with kids, in which we listed all the fun family-friendly activities in the city. During our last city trip to Venlo, we slept two nights at Hotel Maashof, which is located just outside the city center. Based on our findings, we provide a comprehensive review of this hotel in Venlo.

On Friday afternoon, we drive from our hometown to Venlo and we arrive in the city by late afternoon. We drove to the hotel first to check in and put our suitcase in the room. We park the car (for free) in front of the hotel and within two minutes we are in the hotel lobby.
What strikes us immediately about the hotel is the wooded area in which the hotel is located. You clearly have space here and there is plenty of greenery around the hotel. This is also reflected in the room, where our room is connected to the outdoors, so you are in a wooded area within a few steps. In addition, our room had an excellent sitting area, where you can sit comfortably with your family in front of your room. Especially in the summer months, that’s kind of nice.
By the way, the hotel has elevators that you can operate by hand, which our daughter absolutely loved. How many times during the weekend we took the elevator instead of the stairs cannot be counted on one hand ;).
The hotel also has a spa, but it is not open to kids under 14, so we did not use that. It is also possible to rent all kinds of transportation equipment at the hotel such as an e-chopper, a segway or an e-scooter, and you can also do various activities at the hotel with the family such as hand archery and a GPS puzzle tour.
We had booked a suite at Hotel Maashof for two nights and this spacious room later (you can’t see this in the photos) had a bed added for our daughter. The suite is the most luxurious room in the hotel, and in addition to looking beautiful, you also walk straight from the room into the garden, where we thus had a sitting area as mentioned earlier.
Furthermore, this room had all the amenities such as a king-size bed, designer furniture, air conditioning, a large flat-screen TV, Rituals soap in the bathroom and a rain shower. These elements in the room do give you a very luxurious feeling and that makes sure we were able to completely relax after a long day in the city of Venlo.
In addition, we had a refrigerator in the room, a safe and there was a working WIFI connection throughout the hotel. In short, we lacked nothing in the room. You have several rooms you can book at the hotel, including family rooms for four.
What is very nice about the hotel is that there is a large indoor playground of Monkey Town Venlo practically next door. We walk to this indoor playground in a few minutes on Sunday mornings. Monkey Town Venlo is open as early as 9 a.m. on Sunday morning, so we spent the first two hours of this day at this indoor playground. Most museums in Venlo did not open until 11 a.m. on Sundays, so at this indoor playground we had entertainment right in the morning.
Food and drink in hotel
You can visit the hotel Maashof restaurant for all meals on the day. In addition, the restaurant also has a children’s menu, making it very suitable for families to have lunch or dinner. We ourselves were in town during the day and only used the hotel’s breakfast.
This breakfast was very extensive and very tasty. So there were several types of sandwiches, toppings, sweets and juices. In addition, it was possible to choose different egg dishes and also choose, for example, yogurt with fruit. So very extensive and now we are probably forgetting all kinds of things. In this regard, there is something tasty for everyone. At least we left the hotel with a well-filled belly.
We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Maashof with our daughter. Located in a quiet wooded area, the hotel has beautiful rooms where families can stay. For food and drink, you do not have to leave the hotel and can go to the restaurant. We only had breakfast here, but it was definitely recommended! For more information on rooms, rates and activities to do at the hotel, visit the Hotel Maashof website.
