It is also possible to stay overnight at the safari park and spend a weekend at the Beekse Bergen with kids. For us, safari park the Beekse Bergen is just around the corner, so we have been there several times with our daughter. We list for you all the information about the safari park, so you can get a good impression of what to expect from this park.
The Beekse Bergen with kids: general information!
You can easily have a day at the Beekse Bergen with kids. You can go on safari by various means of transportation and there is much to see and do in the park. Safaripark the Beekse Bergen is located in Hilvarenbeek near Tilburg. Most families come to the Safari Park by car, and ample parking is available at the park. Discounted tickets to the safari park can be purchased regularly. You can buy separate tickets for the safari park and also for the playland (beach of the park), as well as a combination ticket for both parks.
You can actually divide the safari park into three sections. So you have Congo Square, Africa Village and Safari Square. You also all have a playground and a restaurant sitting at these three different sections. You can’t quite compare it to a zoo. Most of the animals here have a large area where they reside, which sometimes makes you feel like you’re in a nature park in Africa. That’s a big advantage of this park, though.
The safari park mainly has the large African animals such as the elephant, the rhino, the lion, the zebra, the giraffe, the crocodile and several species of large apes such as the Gorilla and the Chimpanzee. The feeding times of the different animals are posted on signs near the different animals.
The Beekse Bergen with kids: the safari park
You can go on safari with kids at the Beekse Bergen in four different ways. You can go through the park by private car, by boat, by bus and on foot. Here we briefly discuss the different ways.
By your own car: what is tremendously cool when you visit the Beekse Bergen is that you can drive your own car into the park. We loved it when we drove through the Kruger Park in South Africa in our rental car and at any moment you could suddenly spot an animal. Of course, it’s not quite comparable, but you still sit and peer to see if you can spot animals. Of course, here you know in advance approximately what animals you will encounter.
You drive your car through different areas and occasionally pass a gate. Of course, the wild animals like the lions are segregated from the zebras, for example, otherwise they would keep few zebras left in the park. Along the way, you can stop at several places. Of course, you should never get out in this part of the park, as we have seen what can happen to wild animals then (just search Youtube on Beekse Bergen French family).
By bus: if you came to the safari park without a car or want more information about the park and the animals, you can take the bus in the Beekse Bergen with kids. Basically, the buses drive almost the same route as the cars, only you get explanations during the safari with them.
By boat: we always like a little boat ride (especially in good weather) and during this 30-minute boat tour you will see the different animals from the water. On board the boat is a ranger who can alert you to animals hiding.
Walking safari: In the walking safari, you take your own walk through the park. You can actually compare this section to a walk through a zoo. There is a great hiking trail that you can walk and in between you can stop to eat and drink or play in one of the playgrounds.
Finally, you can also go on a raptor safari in the park. Actually, this is just a show with different birds of prey.
The Beekse Bergen with kids: playland
Speelland is a separate park and is located next to the Beekse Bergen safari park. Especially in summer, this is a great place to be. They have a landscaped beach here on the lake and there is a lot for kids to do. We go here regularly in the summer with our daughter and you can have a great time here for a whole day. In fact, in addition to the beach and water, there are several attractions in Playland.
There are several playgrounds, bumper boats, power paddle boats, pedal boats, an aqua shuttle, two large water slides, a mini golf course, trampolines, an assault course, a baby carriage track (kind of like a train), all kinds of bikes on a track, funwheels and an adventure island. In short, enough things to do to keep you entertained for a whole day at Speelland.
In addition, you can have a great bite to eat at one of the two restaurants Speelland has. If you want to visit and the safari park and Speelland, we would recommend going to the Beekse Bergen for two days. One day then is really too short to see and do everything.
The Beekse Bergen with kids: food and drink
You can have great food and drinks at safari park the Beekse Bergen with kids. There are several hospitality areas in different parts of the park. For example, in the Safari Park, you have several places where you can have something to eat with the family. You have the Safari Restaurant, where you can eat fries, sandwiches, sandwiches and salads.
In addition, you have the Kongo restaurant, where you have about the same offerings. This square also has some tents where you can get a drink or an ice cream. At the Africa Village, in addition to fries with a burger, you can also order things like spring rolls. And you can also eat dishes such as salads and sandwiches at Safari Square. You see the restaurants are set up for lunch.
At the vacation park sits restaurant Cape Town for guests of this park and at the Safari resort sits restaurant Moto and the Pamoja Lounge. Here you can eat more elaborate and luxurious food, though, as these also focus more on dinner. Also at Playland you have several tents where you can get a sandwich, sandwich or fries. At Tito’s Totum, you can also get sandwiches and salads at Playland in buffet style.
The Beekse Bergen with kids: spending the night
You can stay overnight at the Beekse Bergen with kids in three ways at the park. For example, there is a safari resort, a vacation park and a campground near the zoo. We briefly discuss the options below.
Safari Resort: at this resort, you literally sleep among the wild animals. You can book treehouses, cottages and safari tents here. The accommodations are scattered across several plains near the park, and depending on where your accommodation is, you’ll have views of different animals. Thus, there are six different areas where the accommodations are located. For example, you can stand on the Simbara East and West plains with your accommodation and come face to face with lions from your cottage. Of course, there is a puddle of water between the cottage and the animals. Check in advance which plains you want accommodation at (and which animals you want a view of) and indicate your preference.
The lodges you can book are African-style, and you can book cottages for families of up to 14 people. When booking your cottage, admission to Safaripark, Speelland, Dierenrijk and ZooParc is included in the price. There is also an indoor pool and water playground at the complex, where kids can play. There is also a restaurant (Moto restaurant) and several pieces of playground equipment at the complex.
Vacation park: this park is a ten-minute walk away from the safari park. There are a huge number of options here in terms of accommodations you can book. From whole lodges to safari tents. Most of these accommodations are located around the great Lake Victoria. You can possibly swim here when the weather is warm, but the vacation park also has an indoor pool. There are also several playgrounds on the grounds and you can play miniature golf.
Camping: if you have your own caravan or tent, it is also possible to camp with kids at the Beekse Bergen. Luxury pitches are available with electricity and a private water tap, as well as back-to-basic pitches. There are also plenty of playgrounds here for the kids to have fun.
