Amusement park Julianatoren with kids: general information
Our daughter had a study day on a Thursday and so we are going to have a fun day at Julianatoren amusement park in Apeldoorn. For us (living in the Tilburg area), this is about 1.5 hours away by car, so we leave home early, so we will be there in plenty of time when the park opens. We parked the car right in front of the amusement park in the (paid) parking lot and were in front of the park entrance within a minute.
Today is very quiet at the amusement park, since we are visiting the amusement park on a weekday and most of the kids are at school. However, there are a number of buses with kids on school trips, but this does not cause extreme crowding in the park, so we do not have to wait longer than a few minutes at most attractions. We always like that, since with young kids you don’t want to stand in a queue for an hour.
In that respect, the park is also quite compact and uncluttered. This is also very nice with young kids. In addition, the amusement park is completely designed for kids, and you can see that, for example, in the toilets that are completely tailored to the height of kids. You can buy tickets both at the box office and online, and the price is the same. Of course, one advantage of buying tickets online is that you don’t have to stand in line at the box office. The amusement park is not open year-round, so check the amusement park website in advance for opening hours.
Amusement park Julianatoren with kids: the park
Despite the theme park’s compact feel, it does have quite a few attractions. The amusement park has more than sixty attractions you can visit with your kids. Our seven-year-old daughter is about 125 cm tall and was allowed in all the attractions (whether accompanied by one of us or not.
She was allowed in most of the attractions independently, so (also because it was so quiet) she went in some attractions several times in a row. What really struck us right away was that there were so many nice sixty-somethings at the attractions. All equally friendly and very focused on the kids! We thought that was a lot of fun to see and great to see that these people are at the various attractions with so much fun and passion!
Our daughter still found the most fun attractions to be the various roller coasters and also the spinning benches (which you often see at the fair as well). This is where we have been several times. We also visited all the rest of the attractions at least once. You should think about a carousel, a haunted house, electric boats, bumper cars, electric cars, electric horses, pedal cars over a track and many more such attractions.
There are also plenty of playground equipment, where kids can play. For example, there are several trampolines and climbing equipment, where the kids can play nicely. This is also near a dining facility, so parents can have lunch at their leisure at lunchtime while the kids are playing.
Besides the different attractions, you can also go to different shows at the amusement park. When we arrived, the Jul and Juliet opening show was just going on. For example, the day we visited the amusement park, there were five different shows of ten minutes each that you could visit. These shows are based on the park’s various characters, including the mice Jul and Juliet and Mr. Cheese Gaff and Mrs. Sugar Pine.
When we visited the amusement park, it was over 25 degrees and there are opportunities to cool off in the park as well. For example, the pirate boats have a water gun on the boat, which kids can use to spray each other wet. There is also a little square with water fountains that spray in all directions and where the kids can also get quite wet.
Amusement park Julianatoren with kids: food and drink
Of course, there are plenty of places in the amusement park where you can get something to eat and drink. For example, there is a pancake restaurant, a poffertjes restaurant, a hamburger kiosk, two cafeterias and several more catering establishments where you can buy some candy, ice cream and something to drink. We ourselves had lunch at the restaurant located at the entrance to the park. Here they had fries with a snack, as well as freshly made sandwiches and other sweets.
So, as you can see, there is plenty of choice for kids, and in addition to the usual fast food food, you can also get Asian food at the amusement park. At Jul’s Thaitoko, you can choose from a variety of dishes with rice. It is also possible to bring food from home. There are plenty of benches and picnic areas (especially at the back of the park) to enjoy a nice lunch with the family.
Amusement park Julianatoren with kids: conclusion
We really enjoyed our visit to the amusement park. We were there when the park opened and did not leave the park until closing time. We always ask our daughter afterwards when we have been somewhere what grade she would give and this time she confidently said a 10. That does indicate that she really had a super fun day at the park. So in that regard, we definitely recommend it if you have kids ages up to ten to visit the amusement park.
