Adventure park Hellendoorn with kids: general information
We drive into the amusement park’s paid parking lot on a Monday morning in the summer vacations a little before Adventure Park Hellendoorn opens and are in front of the entrance in two minutes. The park opens just as we arrive and because we bought tickets online in advance we can walk right through. We took advantage of a promotion from supermarket Albert Heyn for the purchase of tickets, where you get the second ticket free with the purchase of a ticket.
Avonturenpark Hellendoorn has regular promotions, which means you can regularly visit the amusement park for a reduced amount. Surely that will quickly save tens of euros. Of course, it is also possible to simply order tickets through the amusement park’s website. You can also still buy tickets on the spot at the box office, but then you may have to stand in line.
You can’t visit Adventure Park Hellendoorn with kids all year. During the months of November through March, the park is closed due to maintenance. It is possible to rent a locker at the amusement park, and you cannot rent carts or wagon rides at the park. However, you may bring your own from home.
Adventure park Hellendoorn with kids: the park
The amusement park really caters to young kids with regard to its attractions. The most spectacular attraction is the roller coaster that goes over the top, the Tarantula Magica where you go over the top very often in an airplane, and the Dragon’s Nest where you make many rounds with a disc on a track and at all three attractions the minimum length is 120 cm. Our seven-year-old daughter is 125 cm tall, so she was allowed to go on all the rides in the park.
The park is suitable for kids up to about 10/ 11 years old. The park has over thirty attractions and has a nice division into rides for the youngest kids and the slightly older kids. For the youngest kids, there is also a separate section in the park with Toddler Land. In fact, Dreumesland has nine different attractions and here they work with a maximum length of 120 cm. Also attached to this section is a very large cool playground, giving these kids plenty of fun attractions as well.
The park is not super big and you can easily visit all the attractions in one day. We visited the park during summer vacation and did not have to wait super long at most attractions. The only attraction where there was a long line was the Sewer Rat attraction, but by the time we visited this attraction an hour later, it was a lot less crowded.
We were actually able to do all the attractions of the amusement park and several attractions we did multiple times. We also saw another show with pirates jumping from a great height into a pool and a show outside. In short, there is enough entertainment to keep you entertained for a whole day at adventure park Hellendoorn with kids.
Adventure park Hellendoorn with kids: the water park
The amusement park also has a water park, and you pay an extra fee for the water park. You can pay for this on the day at a ticket booth at the water park. Visiting the water park costs a few euros per day. When we were there during the summer vacation, it was quite warm, so we also spent an hour or two in this water park.
The water park is completely outdoors and has several slides that you can slide down with and without a tire. Our daughter really enjoyed sliding down all these slides. In total, the water park has 11 different slides that you can slide down. You can rent a lounger (paid) in the process if you like.
So make sure that if you want to visit the water park, that you bring your swimming gear. We had left these in the car and briefly retrieved them from the car in the afternoon. We were given a stamp on our hand to leave the park for a while. Water park opening and hours depend on weather conditions.
Adventure park Hellendoorn with kids: food and drink
Throughout the amusement park are several restaurants and catering establishments. We ourselves ate at one of the park’s restaurants, eating French fries, pasta and sandwiches for lunch. In that respect, you don’t need to bring anything with you, and we found the prices of food and drinks not too bad. Of course, it is also possible to bring your own food and drinks. At checkout, we did not see any checks on bags.
Adventure park Hellendoorn with kids: Conclusion
We had a great time at Hellendoorn amusement park for a whole day. The amusement park is not super big and we found the crowds at the various attractions to be not too bad.
